Gratitude List

What is everyone greatfull for today?

I am greatful to have a choice today.

I am greatful to have hope today.

I am greatful that I do not walk alone today.

I am greatful to have a job to go to today.

I am greatful for coffee in the morning....................

My first Sponsor also gave me a similar assignment in my early recovery where, at the end of every hour, I should write what I would be grateful for, if at all I am, in that one hour. In the beginning I struggled, as I could only see what is not there in my life, never what I have for which I can be grateful for, like I was alive, I had not lost any parts of my body due to my addiction and was physically intact, I had a shelter, I had decent enough clothes to wear, I had the care of the NA fellowship, the love of my sponsor, I was clean, I had meetings everyday where I can go and share my recovery with other members who care and understand, my hunger was taken care of, I had a room and a bed to sleep on, and so many other things like the oxygen to breath, the winds, the sea, the trees... the list goes on and on... and writing them down every hour, even if it was repetitive, made me acknowledge more and more how blessed I actually am, and how my Higher Power is in fact taking care of me, by being with me and carrying me thru another day clean, inspite of my sickness and my denial to see and feel these miracles in my daily life...

I still use this tool, especially when I'm down with chronic dissatisfaction or self-pity or depression, or when I get into the "nothing is happening in recovery" trip... Thanks for reminding me of this powerful tool that I have in my recovery toolbox.

I guess that takes care of the topic here on this thread.

Guys, I have moved all shares (posts) on sex in recovery as a new topic under the heading "Sex and Recovery".

Hey Raman, don't get it wrong. Usually, I have seen at other online forums too that if a topic started by a member takes another turn into a separate significant area of recovery thru other members' shares, a new thread is created for it so that members are better able to follow the threads and the topics. Just that. It's a common practice. Nothing more to it. Please bear with the inconvenience. I moved all three posts of yours, mine and BigV to a new thread so that members who log in get to check them out as a separate topic.

Just wanted to share what some of the women in my area are doing to share there gratitude. There are about 25 of us that started a email gratitude list , every day we email each other our grat list. What a wonderful thing to sit down to my computer and have 25 emails from women in recovery everyday expressing there gratitude. It has brought us all closer and given us a chance to support each other even if we dont go to the same meetings. Such a gift. Oh I forgot to mention that it also commits me to writing one of my own every day , that's one of the "do things" that I seam to forget about . Now I have 25 women that will call me on my S@*# if I slack...lol thank god I need a shove now and then.
