what golden nuggets of time tested wisdom can we give cheryl and other newcomers,to help make unity a we thing.without them,the fellowship dies.


 so lets start a newcomer thread that we can make a sticky,so everyone who wants this thing can get it.


Dont pick up,you wont get high.


stay away from poeple,places,things,and situations


that put your recovery at risk!

We can't keep what we have if we don't give it away! (newcomers help ME stay clean!)


Grab someone and jump in their back pocket. (preferrably someone with some quality recovery - - the winners as we so often call them) For this addict, I have found that there REALLY are people who don't mind me being in their back pocket and I have to stay there awhile sometimes.


My sponsor told me to stay out of the playground in my mind because it is dangerous and supervision is required. (she even threatened to take away the swings, slides, and everything if I didn't stay out of there) For me, this meant - quit trying to talk myself into going back out there! I learned the hard way that I had to talk to my sponsor and others in recovery because my best thinking earned me my seat in NA.


Put the bat down, stop beating yourself up. Give yourself a break.


Don't pick up any dope, pick up the telephone instead.

I like that, the staying out of the playground in your mind


I will have to remember that when my mind is trying to get me to do it just "one more time"

So true, adriana. First drug doest the damage. As long as we stay away from our first drug... our sick mind cannot decieve us... The trouble starts only when we give in, and having started with the first drug, it becomes a humongous task to stop again...


There is this saying, "If you don't pick it up, you won't get high... if you don't see it, you won't pick it up... if you don't go where it's at, you won't see it... if you go somewhere else you won't go there... so go to a meeting."

My sponsor then instructed me to hang up the phone, go into the bathroom, turn on the light, look in the mirror and you will find the S.O.B that is bugging you."
