Hi Milfangel (does that mean what I think it does) Welcome to Narcotics Anonymous.
Does your boy friend still use?? If so he believes that you'll get clean make friends in NA and leave him. I've seen scores of newcomer arrive where their partner is still using and it never ever works. They either start usin again or they leaveYour in very early recovery, if he's still using you shoud think about moving on. Talk to your sponsor when she get's back or talk to other WOMEN in the fellowship. Alot of them have gone through the same thing. Good luck Bob.
I'm not an expert on relationships but I've lived a little and I've got eyes so I've seen who's stuck around and who's dissapeared.

My husband of 20 years wasn't supportive either. I believe it's a fear based thing. Our partners know us one way and when we change, it's scary for them. For years, we isolated ourselves, living in active adddiction was our world.(I know now that we were slowly committing suicide)  So when I reached out to NA, my husband did everything he could to convince me that I didn't deserve a better life, he made sure that as long as I didn't do what he wanted, my life would be hell. I've been "kicked out " of my own home, all my computer stuff has been deleted, my car tampered with, phonelines ripped from the wall, checking acct. closed, my cell phone service disconnected. and some precious personal momentos, torn up..destroyed for choosing NA and life. It's not easy sometimes, but the peace and serenity I feel, the FREEDOM from active addiction is the greatest relief. I can breathe today, I can feel today, I can love today, I can be loved for me today. I no longer have to do stupid human tricks to get any of it.

Being a Dick yes I would say so Misery luvs Company n He probably isn't ready for you to make these changes in your life. But thats just it YOU have to be willing to go to any lengths You have to make the changes. This is sometimes a selfish program and at this point YOU have to worry about YOU! KEEP COMING BACK!
