hi i'm new

Hi everyone... i'm new my name is kris and i'm an addict. thats the first time i wrote that. I have been clean for 12 days now. I was taking oxycontin 40mg or whatever I could get. I started out with percocets and finally ended up with the oxys anyway to make a long story short i could'nt go on the way I was going and I know that I could'nt stop on my own because I've tried and the withdrawals are like death...I looked online for some info.. and read up on suboxone. I called A doctor and he put me on it. The suboxone helped me a lot for the withdrawals.. my question to any of you guys is now that i'm off these narcotics i physically feel better and i'm not depressed anymore but i miss being high ...i still look at my watch and say oh time for a pill now... i'm starting to get depressed and mentally i'm having a hard time can anyone give me some advice?

Hi Kris.  Remember that your mind will try to mess you up because your addict lives there.  If the voice in your head is anything like mine it will tell you you need to get high, you can't do this, it will be better if you use......  ALL LIES!  DON'T BELIEVE THAT VOICE.  It's only purpose is to keep you high.  When that voice talks to me I read out of the book, call a friend in the program, GO TO A MEETING, get online - anything.  Just don't pick up.  Remember that it will not get better if you do - it will only get worse.  At least that is my experience.  I hope you hang in there.

Also i know that i never want to go where i was..I talked to a counselor about my addiction and he seems to think it was a way of self medicating myself when i got depressed i would use, stress anywhere in my life i would use...then it just  became i would use for any excuse ... i loved being high but i love having my life backbetter....i actually smile now and its a real smile you know what i mean...anyway thanks again for the advice and thanks for listening...its nice to know there are nice people in the world who listen and don't judge.

remember, just for today - you do not have to use. I have 52 days clean (was on oxy also) and feel better than I ever did. having my health back (& my sanity) was the number one reason I chose to detox (almost 6 years of that crap) - post online, go to f2f meetings and remember, just for today

feel free to email if you wish
