Atleast read this!

I just want you guys to know a few things.

1. We can be anything we want to be. All we have to do is dedicate ourselves to that persuit. This includes sobriety.

2. We need to make a decision. We can either live our lives the best way we can and be ourselves regardless, or we can worry about where we are, what's happening, and when we'll be soberly untempted.

3. Live with and accept who and what we are. It's really not all that bad, the journey through sobriety, like life, is what we make of it.

4. We can't persuade anyone about your resolve to live sober. We are the only ones in the world that know whether or not we will use again. We can talk and talk and talk, until we are blue in the face, and nothing will happen. People who have been used by addicts are very slow to forgive and believe that they've made any changes. Why? Because they're afraid of being hurt, or seeing us hurt yourselves again. We can't change that. We can't change the fact that we're here. All we can do is live each day the best that we can, and they'll come around. Sometimes it just takes longer. We are safe when we're in meetings. Or when our sponsors call just to say " I was thinking about you today and.." Only we know what happens when they're not around. they're all just scared, it's that simple. Scared for us, not of us.

5. We can accept things and move on or dwell on it and be miserable. It's UP TO US. Just remember, take it ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Keep your chin up and smile everyone, life is a lot brighter when the sun hits your face.

Remember who you are and don't let other people affect you so much.

They don't matter, we can't change them. We can only change ourselves, now DO IT!

Always here, any day of the year.

Hi Kirsten,,,

nice sharimg and a thanks,,,

howver may i humbly point out =

sobriety isnt really anywhere in Na literature,, in fact it is not NA specific,,,

but no problem,,,

theres the attraction of saying "me,I,' rather than"you"

ive learnt the hard way that anything shared in the "you" context in NA usually goes waste,,,

like it says in the Basic Text=

when i share my story honestly,, someone will identify !!!

I really hope Im not discouraging !!!

anyways i want to say how sinciere you sound and hope this will be the beggining of a long, fruitful, recovery exchange between you and I !!!!

Hugs and keep coming back it works !!

In many ways the serenity prayer says it all. Accept the things I can't change, people places and things. The courage to change the things I can, myself, my beliefs , my attitude. The wisdom to know the differnce, that's the kicker, when I'm not centered I often try to make the world dance to my tune. LOL but of course it doesn't. Bob.

I like that a lot.  We can't control other people (tho God knows I've tried, they wouldn't dance for me either cooncat! ;0), it's how we react to them that's within our reach.

Another thing I really like, that I've learned, that's helped me let go with guilt from some of my worst using days, when I was just a pup, is that:  I am *not* my worst action or deed.  I did something 'bad', some very bad things no doubt, but that doesn't make me, inheriently, a bad person!

yeah,,,,,,

the TEXT says=

""""most of us tend to see addiction as part of our true selves !!!"""

this means to me that addiction is a false self,, and anything i do today in recovery that isnt rooted in addictive logic is TRUE !!!

and i know from my experience

'"""THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH """"

PS. a look at the pamphlet 'ANOTHER LOOK ' is very revealing in terms of waht can be seen as addiction besides the drugs and the other obvious things we hear each day in NA meetings !!!
