I am a member of a small town group in NA and at the moment we are struggling to keep people in the rooms. So in an effort to motivate our members to start and stick with their steps and do some healing, we have decided to start a step writing meeting. We went to a Unity Day event where a speaker shared about their success with a step writing meeting, but since then we have not been able to find that person or any info to help us with a format for how to run it. I don't think we should read all of the readings, but should at least read the how it works and traditions and pray and do intros. Then write for at least a third of the time and then have an open discussion.
Also I am so glad I stumbled upon these message boards in my search for a format! I really enjoy the recovery I've read so far! Thank you for your help!
Our home group studies the steps and and traditions, month by month. We read material out of the NA Basic Text or It Works: How and Why, then have a discussion. I am not familiar with the format where people write out the steps in a meeting. I would think this would be more appropriately done at home, on one's own time. But I see no reason why this couldn't work and our 4th Tradition gives groups the autonomy to choose their own meetings formats--so go for it!
