XANAX WITHDRAWALS; PLEASE HELP ME!

Greetings, I'm Linda-Marie, drug addict in recovery from pain meds 81 day, alcohol 31...

The problems I'm having is my Dr. put me on Xanax, I've been taking approx. 4 mg a day for about a month and a half.  I have only a few left and want this to be my last prescritpion.  I've become addicted to them, just as I have with every other drug.

Sunday will be my 1st day off of them and I'm asking your help on what to do (eat, drink, rest, whatever) to relieve the withdrawals as much as possible.  I'm able to stay home Sunday and Monday to rest and try to eat good, even though I'm not eating very well now, since I've already started the weaning process.  I'm craving sweet carbs, ice cream and cookies, and eating them as well, and taking naps during the day, not looking to good on my waistline, what alternatives can you recommend?

I'm also taking, "Campral" which is suppose to help restore the brains normal chemistry, and give me a bit of a calming effect without it being addictive, but I don't think it has started to work, since I'm only on my 3rd day.  Does anyone know about the Campral medication?  And/or, ways to help me keep my discomfort to a minimum while withdrawing from the xanax.

Please, any and all advise is wellcomed.

Love and Blessings to you All,

Linda-Marie

Also, does anyone know of a more active NA on-line webpage, where they have a continueous chat... I notice this website isn't used on a daily basis.  I've been using 'stayingcyber.com' but that's an AA cite, which I highly recommend those of you who are have problems with drinking. Thanks again!

LindaMarie,
Try irc://irc.wikkedwire.com/narecovery at nachat.org. I have no experience with xanax, but I can say it will get better. NA has no opinion on outside issues and I am not a doctor. Talk to a medical professional who specializes in addiction, and get to some NA meetings. Many people have cleaned up off of xanax and you can too. Sweets, if they help, to hell with the waist, it can be fixed later.
