My spouse is comming off of methadone and is so angry all the time I don't know how to handle it anymore and I don't want any of this to reflect our children if anyone has any advice please let me know I am at a loss and just want my husband back.
. .....sounds like quite a struggle,,I hope things go well. .......I think it's one of the biggest recovery challenges you're going through--that of how the family deals with things.
...I don't know if you or your husband is in the program,,or connected with support, but you might try looking up the (see below) Helpline.
........I dearly hope you and your husband have a good communication still--can you get him to 'take space' when he's feeling riled like you describe?,,,or when you give him a 'signal'?...some principles I once learnt in an anger management program.
.......all the best!

Just so you know... The Narcanon helpline is affiliated with the Church of Scientology. I point this out because a lot of people object to faith based addiction treatment programs. Your recovering spouse should be going to NA meetings and there is a wonderful program called Alanon for people impacted by the substance abuse problems of others.
I am an addict named Mike...I agree and would suggest your husband make some NA meetings while he is detoxing and I would also recommend and suggest Nar-Anon for yourself...I am a member of Nar-Anon also and spent most of my 27 yr olds 7 YRS of Heroin addiction attending meetings from both fellowships(NA&Nar-Anon) Although I knew as an addict there wasn't much I could do until my son reached the point of acceptance and surrender it was helpful sharing my ESH with others and hearing others just like me...WE learn ,we didn't cause it ,we can't control it and we can't cure it..WE also learn about enabling situations and how to "detach with love" a mind boggling technique but one that salvages your own condition.. heres a link where you can find meetings near you and read up about some program stuff...I'll lift you up in prayer as I can identify with your situation and know that sometimes the loved one of the addict becomes more sick trying to live in the trying situation.Be blessed your husband is trying to wean off Methadone..Support your husband and take care of yourself,,it is very important to both of you....
