My name is Maggy and i have a huge issue. I wil be one year sober in August of this year, but without a sponsor im not sure i will make it. this whole year of my sobriety, my first ever, i cannot find a sponser that can work with me. i have a panic dissorder and im terrified of talking on the phone. i cant find a sponser willing to help work around this, so i just dont have one. when i asked people at my home group they make it sound like im not dedicated to staying clean, and im not making myself a prioritee. but i am. im desperate to get a sponser, i cant do this alone anymore. what do i do? can i get an online sponser? HELP!
It will be difficult to find a sponsor if you can't talk on the phone, but it can be done. You could meet someone in meetings and talk to them there. You could arrange to meet in person via email or texting (I assume you are okay with these forms of communication). You could continue to work with your sponsor this way and combine in person and non-phone communication. I think it can be done--you just have to keep trying. I have sponsored many people and I would not have a problem with someone who said they don't want to communicate by phone: I would be open to different options. Keep trying!
