Not sure how long it will take you to detox. When you are feeling a little better, check out some NA meetings. You will find lots of experience, strength, and hope there. Going to NA was the best decision I have made in my life. NA saved my life and gave me a life.

Detox is no joke.
Doing it alone is not impossible, but definetly not recommended.
The beauty of being a part of NA is that you are never alone.
You would have people who could stay with you and help out, or at least check in with you
They would know what you are going through so you wouldn't have to say "I'm sick" or whatever to cover up.
Anyway. good luck and keep coming back

welcome Robin,,
Get to an NA meeting fast as you can or call contact numbers from NA local helpline !

In some areas, they actually get members to be with you and share recovery with you.
You did well in reaching out here in MIP.
The next right thing would be to check the yellow pages/google and call the local NA helpline/hotline !

Best of luck and recovery hugs !

Hope you're hanging in there. Should be 3 days or so into your detox. IIRC from my smack Cold Turkey many moons ago the worst should be over soon. Seems like it was about 4 days of hell before it started getting better, for me. While it was back in '75 I still can remember every cell in my body aching and freezing, puking stomach bile not even hold down water. Not something I dwell on or have even that about for quite some time. Not Clean since '75, took me 3 more to find NA and 2 more after that to surrender and find the Miracle that is having the Monkey, the knawing never ending obsession to use, lifted off my back forever.

It, life, can get better. Hope you make to some face to face NA Meetings. It's suggested a minimum 90 meetings your first 90 days.

Today there is real hope for a better way of Life. I'm a living testament NA Works, 31 years Clean by the Grace of God through the Power of NA. We are many today.

Don't use no matter what- no matter what. It looks like you have about 5 days clean right now. I detoxed off of years and years of opiate abuse for the first time in the SHU (solitary) in the county jail. All alone in a cell, just me and four cement walls (literally). I don't really remember much, but I remember that it was painful for the first few days, I was crawling out of my skin, it was horrible and then it only got better. I used immediately when I got out though. I kept using until I surrendered and started going to meetings- and long story short, it didn't work if I did it "my way". To truly be connected with the program and to truly work it I had to take suggestions that I didn't want to take at first. I had to get a sponsor, I had to keep coming, I had to reach out, I had to read the literature and write on it. I'm not on the steps yet, my sponsor is going to bring me through them pretty soon though (every sponsor is different). Either way, my point is... you are worth it, your life is worth it, and if you would like to be freed from the chains of your addiction, give this way a shot. It's not easy at first but it gets better. There are so many people who have found a life that is beyond their wildest dreams through NA, myself being one of them. This way is freedom, as long as you do the work. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Many of our saying may not make sense at first, but eventually they will. Keep coming back, it works, it really truly does. Even a single day is a long, long time to be clean, a second is a long time to be clean. Stick with it, don't look back- just keep going forward. One day at a time, one minute at a time if necessary.
It's a wonderful life, to not have to rely on drugs to get through the day. I can cook a dinner and clean my house without stealing money and finding a dealer first. I can wake up, shower and go to work without being high, and without being sick. I can take a vacation, save my money, own nice things that I won't sell the next day. I can have fun without drugs, and truly enjoy life. I wasn't able to do any of those things, I wasn't able to do anything without drugs besides mope, fight, steal, plot, and shake, sweat and vomit. That's not a life, it's hell on earth, and it sure isn't worth it to go through all of that just to not be sick- just to feel normal. The little and simple things today are things that I can appreciate and enjoy, even when life starts to suck (bad day at work, etc), I can still enjoy my life because the worst day in recovery is a whole lot better than my best day using. It's true, and the same thing can happen for you. Its a beautiful thing to not have to be afraid anymore.
Just hang on!!! You are only going forward if you dont use, it will only get better. If nobody has told you that they love you today, I do- you are worth it!
