Getting Somewhere?

I have been scoping meetings for a bit, People watching. Mental notes. And the like. They say in the beginning of the meetings to raise your hand if you can be a temp sponsor.

Here is my question:
I move to another state in roughly thirty days. Should I pick up a temp sponsor or just stick with regular meeting attendance until I move?

Im moving back to my home town, so Im pretty familiar with the meetings in that area (Where they are, When they start).

My schedule is busy... I work from 730A to 730P M-F and 730A to 1P Weekends, And Im just not sure if I can balance a temp sponsor and my Fiancee and work and school and prep for the move.

So I went to a meeting on Sunday, and there was a british woman next to me. I scoped her out and at the end I asked her aside and told her my most recent failure. Her advice was:
"Good to tell someone, but remember to be careful who you tell, and you only need to be honest with yourself and who you choose to tell"

This isn't the first time I've heard this advice, and Im aware of what she means by it.

Anyway, that was my half-ass middle ground attempt at not getting a temp sponsor, but still trying to be positive in my recovery.

To get a temp or not get a temp. Its only 30 days right?

It is always a good idea to have someone in NA you can talk to, whether you call them a sponsor, a temporary sponsor, or whatever. Isolation feeds this disease. I encourage you to find people you can talk to. There is always enough time for that. You don't have to spend a lot of time to get a big benefit. For me, just a quick phone call to someone I trust can do wonders.

Hello Ruhig!

Glad you are continuing your journey. SPONSORSHIP IS A VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF OUR PROGRAM. I personally am from the school that  I didnt use temporarily and I didnt want a sponsor temporarily but this is my stuff. Our literature tells us that  Sponsorship for the newcomers is also the responsibility of the group..Like Dave says ,another recovering addict can be very helpful to share some stuff with but we have to be careful to ensure our stuff we shared doesn't beat us home. I listened for a long while until I heard, saw and and felt comfortable enough to ask  my sponsor for his sponsorship..Through the years the relationship has been one of a true blessing to each of us. I have always been a very isolated person and in order to share deep secrets  5th /9th E.G  and anything, trusting it would stay between us and God .Someone I could work and apply all the steps with another human being I had to  feel I could be truly honest ,rely on God as I understood God and free myself. It could not be just anyone for me...Share what you can at meetings, and contiue to let that Power, greater than you, loving and caring be a guide for you.OUR JOURNEY IN RECOVERY IS A LIFE LONG PROCESS, hopefully you will continually work thru the steps, traditions and even concepts over and over again. It is our solution, the application of the spiritual principles into our lives...Good work...More will always be revealed........smile

i think your a little hung up on words.
sharing your worries and not isolating are what's important.
call them sponsor, temp sponsor, suuport group, or friend,
just call them

Thanks for the feed back. Maybe I am hung up on words a bit. I also just dont want to get to close to someone Im going to move away from very soon. The important thing is that I was honest, right?
