I usually think of 6 and 7 going together, and 8 and 9 but not 7 and 8.
6 and 7 teach me about willingness to change and humility. They also help to me to learn to accept imperfections in myself and others.
8 and 9 teach me about forgiveness (forgiving and being forgiven) and help to free me of guilt.

Step 7 was huge for me. When I humbly asked Him to remove my shortcomings I actually "came to believe"
Yes, I had done step 2 and did it to the best of my ability. But being on my knees and asking God to relieve me of my defects,
was a powerful moment. I felt His spirit wash over me, and my faith deepened.
It was wonderful.

and I daresay you have a very good sponsor.

His/her suggestion to find out from others too shows a lot of openmindedness and not wanting to have complete monoply and control over input.

8 was willingness to ask for forgiveness, inspite of possibilities of not gettin it. And to forgive and forget too,,,
basically a plan to make amends means planning actions that will stop using the old routes of addiction and of addictive logic.

Step 7 and 8
Being humble has alot to do with step 8
We have to humbly admit we have harmed outhers.
We have to be willing to humbly ask to beforgiven even if we are not forgiven
That right people do not have to forgive us and we have to be ok with that.
And ask the high Power to remove our shot comings if this happen
LOL I think I spilled over in to step 9.

maybe why your sponsor twins Steps 7 and 8 is this.

When we do Step 7, we emphasize being humble. That humility is a state of not being ignorant of my plus and minus points.

And then in Step 8, we carry that humility into listing the people we have harmed and the plans we draw to make those amends.

All said and done "humility is an ideal state of mind for an addict to be in "
