How times change.....

It was just about a year ago that my world started to cave in on me, my gig was just about up. My husband had been telling me for a couple of years how sick I was, that I was killing myself, that I had to stop or he was going to leave. So I'd stop for a while, or hide it better (yeah, right ), but I always went back. Then came the day I lost my job, and didn't really care anymore. That was when he told me to get help or get out. The day I will be ever grateful to him for. That day started my journey of recovery and although it took me a couple more months to actually get into the rooms and a few more after that to truly surrender, with God's grace I will celebrate 5 months on Sunday. Today, I no longer come to in the morning, I wake up. I don't crash and burn at night anymore, I fall asleep and sleep peacefully. I am healthier and happier than I can remember being since forever. I live my life one day at a time, asking for guidance and direction in the morning and saying thank you for my day and the gift of being clean, of being present throughout my day, at night. This board is one of the first places I came to when I thought I was going to do "cyber" recovery. I soon learned that only by going to face to face meetings, getting a sponsor and truly working the steps, then trying to apply them to all areas of my life, and most importantly coming to believe in a power greater than myself would I even have a chance. Life keeps happening, and overall mine hasn't changed all that much, but how I react to it has. Today I am truly grateful to all of the people who have come into my life and support me on my journey. I am blessed, and you are part of my blessing. Thanks. Peace

Thanks for sharing. I am glad that visiting this discussion board help you get a start on recovery and that you did the necessary footwork and got to in-person meetings. Miracles can happen when we work the NA program.
