Attended my first NA meeting!

Hi all,

Justed wanted to let you know I attended my first NA meeting tonite. The whole way driving there I was having to fight the urge to call one of my dealers to get pot and just zone out. It was an inner struggle for sure but in the end I went to the meeting and I am so glad I did. I met two ladies whom have been sober 20+ years and I got their numbers. Looking forward to the next meeting Thursday nite.smile

Hurray for you !!!! That first one is always a huge step, and you took it. Even more props for fighting your urge and going to the meeting instead. Keep going, and if and when the urge strikes again, use those phone numbers instead. Maybe one of those ladies will turn out to be your first sponsor, who knows. Peace

Way2Go!!!
I remember how afraid i was before my first meeting.
It took me three tries to get the courage to walk in the door.
Seems so silly now, but that is the reality for many of us.
Imagine...being afraid to take the first step to freedom.
Oh my this disease of ours is a trickster.
But we beat him, one day at a time.

Excellent ,keep showing up, very important now to "identify" with the feelings of your addiction and not compare to the 'WAR" stories, this illness will tell you "you aint like them" ,you never did that, you'll be okay etc...ITS A LIE!!keep coming back.....smile......

Mike, how true! It's uber important to find similarities instead of differences with the folks in the rooms. I tried to separate myself by saying, "well, I never used hard drugs... I only drank and smoked pot... so how could "I" have a problem?" Once we start doing that, it's a straight path to suicide.

I'm so glad you made it! Hold onto those women - they will be your saving grace! :)

Keep coming back - it works!
