NO ADDICT NEED DIE FROM THE HORRORS OF ADDICTION!

Our theme for todays "Speaker Jam" in upstate New York.We have addicts coming from at least the Tri-state area and sometimes from way out of town.Fittingingly "we" are attending a memorial first for an addict who passed, 24 years old,a couple months back and her parents wanted to do this memorial and then they are coming to the jam! I am priviliged and honored to again hold down the "coffee" commitment. 2pm-9pm the message of hope and good clean fun and fellowship awaits us for this day!MEN DO RECOVER,my saturday homegroup puts this jam on quarterly to carry our message that an addict ,any addict stop using drugs, lose that desire to use and find a new way to live!Welcome here to all newcomers, there really is a better way to live and it all starts with our emotional acceptance of utter defeat and surrender, let your "healing begin".Have a blessed and productive day ,time to smell that 1st cup of coffee..:)

it's not easy but it is simple.  I'm going to not use just for today.

find yourself a face-to-face meeting and go to it.  you can go to na.org and search for meetings in your area.  you will be welcomed.  people will understand you, and accept you exactly as you are.  there is strength in addicts helping each other that you can't get from a non-addict.  non-addicts can't understand the things we live with.

so go!  someone there will help you.  and it sounds odd, but we recovering addicts need to see someone still struggling.  we need to remember what it's like to be at the beginning of recovery, as it helps us not go back there.

you'll be doing a service not only to yourself but to other addicts to show up.

I liked what you wrote other day on spirituality bionic. The Na literature sounds like an autobiography.Coming out of detox again here about 12 days or so.I remembered the part in writting paraphrase"the greatest weapon in fighting addiction is other addict in recovery."Ive been to 2.25 meetings pretty funny.Im very sure they seen an addict still strugling as I was detoxing hard.People were very kind to me.But I was like a def mute,I couldnt understand much at that time.Karla 48 I guess from na writtings its not unusual for us to put ourselves in very dangerous situations.I thought I was only one ,it seems common.Ive never been more psychologically unstable than when Im in full detox.Anyone out there on opiates picked one hell of a fight.I know what your going thru.I hope we can make it.
