New in Recovery

I am clean for 31 days now, woo hoo! I have so many questions....I am having so many emotions and I just can't seem to get a handle on them. Things that I experienced in the past and would take pills to feel numb, its like they are all flooding me at once! I am angry and hurt all over again. Is this normal and will it go away?

Welcome to NA! Yes, what you are going through now is normal. It will be an emotional roller-coaster for a while, but things will begin to settle down as you stay clean and work the program. Keep coming back!

Hello and welcome.
Yes, what you are feeling is totally normal.
That's why there is Step 2.
After we give up the drugs which ruled our lives there is a tremendous void.
Filling that void with something positive is essential if we are to successfully continue on our journey.
"Came to believe" are very powerful words.
Your Higher power used to be drugs. Now you need a loving, caring HP to guide you through your recovery.
If you haven't already done so, I urge you to seek out a sponsor who embodies the spirituality of the program.
Talk to him about how you are feeling. I'm sure he can help.
Keep coming back and let us know how you are doing.
Peace.

Welcome Teri, congratulations on 31 days Clean!

Not using one day at time is the beginning of the Recovery Journey. Feelings, what a concept! They can be scary and foreign, something as addicts we avoided for so long through drugs. Our emotional growth was stunted for years. It's like we are children in adult bodies learning how to live life on life's terms. It takes time, working the Steps is the key.

Keep Coming Back!

Thanks! I feel like I have to learn how to do things all over again. I feel better physically than I have in 2 years. I have chronic pancreantitis and pain clinics really load on the drugs. I had half my pancreas and spleen removed in Aug. 09 and I am not on anything now and no pain, who would have thought that would happen! I have been to only 2 meetings I have not even went to get my 30 day chip and I was so excited about that one..lol
I know I have to get out and start living my life all over again. Thanks for the encouragment I feel like I have went from a drug addict to really crazy in 31 days.
