I got a shock this morning on learning that my home group voted against me in an election.
Fate is the same, whether on the outside or within NA. My home group had a business meeting on Friday. I wasnt even informed. Then they took a vote on elections to Regional Delagate alternate post. I had submitted my resume to the group before handing it over at ASC. They had okayed it. So I thought that they had a vote for me. In this business meeting they vote for another candidate. The main reason seems to be that on an Outreach trip, of which I was leader, there were some problems. I was seen as incapable pf leading when I had an arguement with another member on the train. I was held responsible for another member punching a newcomer on the face on the bus ride back.
All that seems to have turned the group against me. moreover, there was a controversy regarding another member, who was also a candidate, and me. So because of this, it seems I have lost an election, for which I had waited patiently for 14 years. Now I find that groups are not in favour of me.
So, Ive been talking to members who are concerned about my welfare.... I do not know what to do.....which way do I go ? I dont want to use, no matter what !! But is it correct to change home group, once they have done things this way... Im seriously thinking of taking a home group in a locality where I used a lot, it is more attractive for me...
Look at this photo. It was taken just 20 minutes before my altercation with another member. This member had got into this conversation I was having with another member. I objected to this and it lead to an altercation,,, which later showed me in a bad light !!!
God knows why fate keeps doing this sort of thing to me,,,,
This photo shows me happy and eager to do a good Outreach. Then the negatives happen and prospects changed.....
In fact, Ive been discussing this issue with others here. They seem to be encouraging me to find another home group, especially as my trust is broken...
Im also thinking of using the 10th Concept....

Raman! I will definitely pray for God to help move you in the right direction in this matter!.Number 1,and it will be difficult,is pray not to hold any resentments as that will slowly eat away at you.We are human and that will take work and help from something bigger than you..I would check around other groups and see if there is a better place for you,but not in the "vein of taking your ball and going home" That may feed the fire???Do not let this set back take you out of your daily based routine of serving and reaching out to the still sick and suffering.God may have other plans for you.....I am sorry for the set back,we do look forward to things and when we are blindsided it takes us off our process.Bounce back with renewed fervor,try to find the learning experience in the situation,..Remember 'Babe Ruth held the record for home runs back in the day(60) but he also held record for most strikeouts.....Make your undying faith in your Higher Power,your willingness and ability to do service help lead the way......I know at this time you will have to reevaluate but move forward,move if you need to and feel guided but don't lose your drive to continue to carry our message,no matter what form it is in,,,,,,Regional Delegate or greeter at a homegroup!God and NA always has a place for us,we sometimes just have to keep searching..In support my friend.Drop a cyber note if you want to talk,you got my URL!! yES rAMAN,OUR 10TH CONCEPT DOES GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO REDRESS WITHOUT FEAR OF REPRISAL!..Literature tells us i"if you feel you have been wronged(not let known about meeting etc)talk with your sponsor,inventory your own involement in the matter pray and meditate.If you still believe you have been personally aggrieved that you should share and petition with the bodys sharing session.Tells us it is very rare this concept is used but if need arises it is ready to put our spiritual fellow ships ideals in action!! I think you should look for another home group. I'm not so disturbed by the fact that they did not support your bid for office. That is why elections are held. What troubles me is that they had a home group meeting and didn't inform you. It seems like they are being sneaky and conspiratorial. NO place for that in NA. Go where you are welcome. Peace.
Raman I am so sorry to read about what your going through. You've already gotten some really great & productive suggestions from some really wise members of this board. We are here for you no matter what you decide. Do me a quick favor when you start feeling down, ok? Go back and read some of the really incredibly supportive positive posts you've written and if you get half as much out of them as we do you will know exactly what direction you need to take. Your in my thoughts & prayers.

Darn Raman, I hate when that happens. It sounds like NA is the same everywhere. I know that you will grow through and beyond this. I keep making plans and life keeps making results.
Raman,I think you should have been informed of this election.Especially if you have been a trusted servant in the homegroup.As far as altercations there are always people who want to cut in on conversation between people.If they hit you they should answer for there actions.It is hard here in my area to get people to step up to do service .We have 40 groups in our area and 12 or 13 show up at area service committee meeting,sad.A lot don't realize what people who do service do just because they care.Hope everything works out for you.
Yes Chuck,,,, I did put in my resume through my home group when I forst applied for this position.
In the light of later developments, Im forced to think that there is some weird game going on here ! So, Im staying out of that circle and instead to trying to get justice done by doing the right thing for the right reason !!!

This meeting takes place in the same venue where I went for my first recovery meeting 22 and odd years ago.. Before that, this is the very locality that I used most often in,,,
God,s sake, it is like full circle, history repeating,, this time as NA meetings and not AA.....
The therupatic value of one addict helping another is indeed without parallel... One addict can best understand and help another addict.....
