Today,only through the grace and mercy of the God of my understanding, I wake up 25 years ,7 months to the day, coming to on that cold December 2nd morning,1984, where I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do it, but I knew were no options left, and choices were either life or death.I chose life and humbly became free and clean from active drug use. With a contrite heart and a willing spirit, I enter another day in the service of my God and effort to be all He intended for me to be by above all things keeping Him first in all things and loving my neighbor next. In these two goals I am able to look around and see strife, controversaries.joy,pain,happiness and suffering and know in my frail human condition,I am at my best when I am real close to Him ,when I truly surrender to our 3rd/11th step each day,through the day and before the day ends as my eyes close before I sleep..Man ,I am so grateful, to be here or "anywhere" at this time in my life.I once again today ,celebrate life, mine and yours.. For today on my menu, spiritually I will focus more on the practice of tolerance, patience, and humility. Time to get rollin.Whatever happens today, I believe, through my HP all things are possible..Have a blessed and productive day.......... peace

Excellent post. I am a newly recovering addict of alcohol and drugs. I have just started the steps and I am only on the 1st step and it is very difficult. But I am a new found christian and have accepted God into my life and I am already seeing a difference in my life and how I feel. I have joined AA mtgs here and recently got a sponsor as well. It was really nice to read your post. God bless

It is such a blessing when we see someone "coming in from the storm".Excellent job on Step work(our solution) and getting a sponsor.Our primary purpose here at this forum ,like our program of Narcotics Anonymous 5th tradition states is for eachgroup to carry the message to the addict who still suffers. Literature(Basic Text) tells us A step necessary to achieve ongoing recovery your "coming to believe"wonderful!!!I am so glad you have been able to come in before spending a lifetime "out on the tiles" like many of us did before surrendering and arriving at our 1st step!Meetings,fellowship,literature,service,your sponsor will help you work through the solutions once you have "admitted the problem"Hope to hear more from you,stick around and share your experience,strength and hope with us!! peace
