It Works,How and Why! literature serves as a resource for NA groups and individual members. The book seeks to explore spiritual principles within the traditions. It engages members with the spirit-not the law-of the traditions. It provides thought for discussion about the traditions. It is a book that allows local intepretation of practical applications of principles contained in the traditions.
Many questions can be answered by determining how our actions we contemplate will affect the unity of the fellowship. Will it divide or bring us together.?....Tradition1(It works,How and Why)
We do not use Clarity statement or Identity statement here at MIP. It may be used in certain areas or face to face meetings and it is your choice to attend any meeting or not because of such statements. We are a group of people sharing our ESH in a loving and caring manner with each other here sharing the message of hope and promise of freedom from active addiction. United we stand ,divided,we know where that can bring us...... Have a blessed and productive day! Another day ,by the grace of God to stay in the "solution" our spiritual priciples......

Just for today we will admit that there is only one way to interpret the na traditions,, Trad.11 pg.208 > Each of us has our own life, our > own words and our own story, all adding dimension and color to the > message of our fellowship. Just for today we can clearly see that there is only one way to interpret this. Just for today we can clearly see that all na members are encouraged to use their own words addict and alcoholic/clean and sober/at any and all na gatherings.
Just for today we can clearly see that when we try to control what na members say we will divide na,we will push each other apart causing dis unity in the na fellowship. Just for today we know that if we follow the freedom of the na traditions we will bring na members together the na way. Just for today we give thanks for our na tradition lessons.

I try use the language that I believe will send a clear NA message to people who come to an NA enviornment. I don't try to affect how others share. When someone I sponsor asks, I tell them why I think my language is so important.
Anytime I get into "defending my rights" my ego is involved, invariably.
The longer I'm here the more I realize the wisdom that states that the foundation of NA as it it's expressed in our symbol is Goodwill. If we don't have that to stand on, we're screwed in our primary purpose.
hEY jOE(Jimi Hendrix,my man late 60's actually band Im in covering this tune now :) ) Yes I believe you missed the marathon clarity statement scenario here on this site oh about a month ago,Invigorating at the minimum!!!non- condusive to recovery at the maximum(my thoughts)..Goodwill LIKE THAT..... Amen my brother! Have a blessed day..........

I caught the end of it. We have the same issue at my home group. I've been to groups where they read one. Sounds like fun, trying to get a bunch of addicts to do exactly the same thing.
Id, much rather use NA specific language. I have changed form being abusive in my language.
Slang, gutturals etc. seemed to be the natural reaction for an addict like me. I can justify slang and the like as my own words, but do they reflect my recovery ? No sireee.
I discovered one evening that I didnt like being at the other end. One guy kept sharing f all thorugh his share and said f this and f that. Then I realized that may be the only way he can express himself. I also realized that I did not have to use expletives to express myself.
I also remembered the time when I was sharing in a small meeting and used f's all the time till one guy got worked up and said to stop. I had taken the meeting from a recovery one to an insane one. then after the meeting, a member older in age suggested I find other words to express myself.
I gradually did, and am happy for it because Ive realized the importance of using NA specific language in meetings,,, especially with the newcomer in mind.

Yes though people share as they do,I stay away from using profanity in all areas of my life.It is not condusive to my faith beliefs and I always work to show respect to others in all my endeavors. If you look up in thesauras/wikopedia/websters/ one of the meanings shows as insulting/rude and showing disrespect.I can certainly share my ESH without embellishing with words I just dont use in my vocabulary anymore. At one time every other word was F this and you and everything.I actually stopped showing up at a meeting(men only) because it was always centered on some of the most vulgar, denegrating language Ive listened to and I spent 4 years in the Armed Forces so I heard it all..I don't find it condusive for my recovery .This is my stuff and there are meetings everyday of the week ,sometimes 2 and 3 a day in my area,so I show up at meetings that I find condusive to my recovery .There is no one saying what you can talk like but I have a choice of taking what I need and leaving the rest..Just like all things in life there are subtle lines that cross from one area to another. We are free to say whatever we want, but we are also free to choose how we want to hear it.I am by no means a prude ,my spiritual writings tell me"that no man can tame the tongue,it is an unruly evil, full of deaadly poison. With it we bless our God and also curse men, these things ought not be so..For me ,I find it very difficult to practice spiritual principles and veering from how I address others with my language..The color of the message for me doesnt include profanity and again this is my stuff and what works for me.....

[[[ .There is no one saying what you can talk like]]]]]
Oh but there is,,meetings with the clarity statement in the format clearly state that if you use the words/phrases addict and alcoholic/clean and sober you will cause a dilemma in na,and you will dilute the clarity of the na message. So clearly they are saying what you can talk like,, Just for today we will not say what you can talk like,, Just for today we give thanks for the freedom of the na traditions.
When you go to meetings and people share with profanity( what this post is about, not clarity statement ,a non issue here)) there is "no one sayingwhat you can share like" "no one is going to say you can't swear if you like" language ,if you want to use vulgar language thats your choice, but others can also choose not to listen to it if they dont want to. Same with a meeting with identity statement read "if you dont likethat statement being read, then you dont have to go to that meeting. We dont read the clarity or identity statement here and even if we did its your choice to be apart of it or not...As you can see from the posts here at MIP some believe in using NA specific language in NA meetings and others have different feelings, you can see that by reading thru the shares. you may have missed the "clarity statement" debates here a month or so ago(maybe you didn't?)you can also find these debates at Sober Recovery Community in full length with all kinds of thoughts about it,very informative and will be debated till the cows come home...... .....Its a non issue here as we don't use it.For the time I have been here at MIP I find freedom to share your feelings on whatever you like very refreshing with only an underlying suggestion of respecting each others process of working their recovery and freedom to voice their opinions on whatever they like .Thanks for sharing your thoughts,,,,

Way over for me.....,didn't mean to cause division by even responding to this issue and if I did ,I apologize, I am usually in better sense to know where these types of scenarios lead and how they are "not" condusive to our forum of recovery here at MIP......thanks........

Obsession - a never ending stream of thoughts centered around one and only thing - the getting and using and finding ways and means to get more... it could be drugs, it could be gambling, or it could be a certain fixation on a particular issue, unable to break free, compulsively trapped! lol...

Just for today we are grateful for our na tradition lessons, for now we know that there can be no such thing as[[NA specific language] ,,NA encourages us all to freely share our own experience and to use our own words alcoholic/sober when shareing our own experience,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Trad.11 pg.208 Each of us has our own life, our own words and our own story, all adding dimension and color to the message of our fellowship.
It works How and Why.
Tradition 8 Pg 188,What is Narcotics Anonymous, after all, but a fellowship of addicts freely sharing with one another the simple message of their own experience. We praise god for showing us exactly where it states that in the NA traditions there is clearly no such thing as[[[[NA specific language]]]]]] Yes,the freedom of the NA TRADITIONS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
OUR OWN WORSD AND OUR OWN EXPEREINCE,,FREEDOM RULES,,,,,,,,,,
