I'm feeling a little anxious about my fourth step.
Any suggestions?
Just Do it and as thoroughly as possible but without to much reservation and time delay, if ou sit on it to long it becomes stressful. keep checking with your sponsor on your progress, I gave mine to him a few times and went back and added some things, then one day I just said thats enough getr done because I had a real good idea what was going on, complacency. The idea is to clean house but it's also to find the underlying nature of our disease, selfishness and ego is what i found and theres underlying stuff to those things also, making amends later but first we discover and try to discard the harmful nature that keeps us in our disease and in our addiction. If we dont get these steps done chance are we will use again, foremost mindful of that so it has to get done and remember these steps are life long for us we do them over and over and live the steps so if you dont get it done perfectly this time theres always next round LOL
Hey Don! It is a little anxiety ridden,but just be as honest as you can,totally,unload everything and when you work the 5th with your sponsor and are completely ,totally honest,you'll feel like life has started again for you.Like Vin said we are never finshed with the steps,by the time you get to do 5th with whoever you choose to hear it( a priest who;'s about to die!!! ,little humor there)you may remember something else,Remember God is in the "house",He already knows but wants to hear it out loud.I cried like a baby in middle of mine and my sponsor said"thats been with you for awhile huh!!! ahhh yeah!Way to go ,FREE YOURSELF!!!!

Yeah, this is the turning point,, no more fence sitting at this stage.
Seems like what the text says appears real, but is not. 4th Step in the Basic Text that many of us will be afraid that if we write a 4th, then we will release a monster that will devour us.
Well, for me that feeling was there, but after beggining to write with my sponsors guidance, I realized that was the last major hallicunation I had.
A smack, grass, LSD, booze, tab head like me had finally arrived at recovery junction and I wanted to do this because the readings and a few shares Id heard were evidence that once done, I will not be controlled by addiction anymore.
And that fact is true. I am not subconciously controlled by the drives of addiction and though those drives do come up, I now know what to do to stay in recovery !!!
Lucky for us we now have the NA Step working guide and are you doing that format Don ?

thanks everyone. Yes, Raman. I believe I will be using the Step working guide. I mentioned that I was getting a little anxious about this step to my sponsor and he said that I was jumping the gun, which I always do, and making it into a bigger deal than necessary, which I also always do. But I too have heard stories of this step being a transforming experience for some people and believe me, I could use some transforming. So, I stopped thinking about it, to the best of my ability and wait till Saturday, when sponsor and I go over the third step and I get his instructions on the fourth. Thanks for all the good suggestions everyone.
