Going to get up to see him this week before he goes in then next week hopefully spend a few days up there with my sister who lives near where his surgery will take place, so please keep him and me in your prayers.
My Dads been sober a long time 25+ years and has always been supportive oy my recovery but he was my reason for so long to be using and drinking until I realized " There by the grace of god go I ", i was no better and had to take responsibilty for my addictions and diseases, and thats was the starting point of my recovery I believe, I had no more excuses left .
So God's will be done i am optimistic, he has taken care of himself now for a few years now going to the gym and keeping busy, though he turns 71 this friday he has CPOD thats what there most concerned about otherwise I think he'll be fine, we hope, he's become a pretty good guy and a loving Dad and he loves his grandaughter so much but wont get to see her before surgery because she's got a little cold.
Anyhow i'll stay close to the program for my own support and let you guys know how things are going and have gone next week.
Big V ,The higher power is on your dad's side.Being sober that long is a wonderful thing.I had a Quad Bypass 15 years ago this Halloween,I have had a few heart attacks since then ,have a pacemaker defribilator .I enjoy my life being clean,got to see my grandson come into this world.I also have a great support group of addicts all around the world and country.I send my prayers for you and your family and your Dad.
Thanks for the shares and well wishes guys, I went up last night to spend a few hours with him and have dinner he's in good spirits , too good almost LOL .
I have realized a few things about myself in this that im not going ot share right now has to do with why i stayeda loner I guess, has to do with those damned feelings, those mushy soft ones LOL you probably can figure it out from there .
So Gods will be done in all of our affairs and situations, but we can still make a few selfish requests now and then, FOR OTHERS
His surgery got canceled today no room in ICU so its tomorrow.
He said something today after i told him i got a little worried he might have lost his temper, he pretty much said the only thing he can change is whats behind his nose, boy what a change that was to here, so i'm real proud of him today.
Surgery went well he had a triple bypass , so far so good spending the weekend up there so will be hangin out a lot at the hospital with him, thanks for prayers and good thoughts guys/gals....
