Solitude is bliss at times and I need my space to Meditate and repossess myself. Else, I usually do not isolate and keep close to Fellowship, family, friends colleagues, tutors etc. On those rare occassions when I do spend too much time with myself, Ive seen me getting lazy and remembering resentful incidents and being resentful again. If that comes up when I am Meditating, it is resloved, but idle lonliness build s up those resentments. That said, I know that as a recovering addict, I need time for Silence.

Hey Tisa! for me I seem to manage my alone and "part of" time pretty well.Sitting in a tree for hours, hunting during season(maybe just spacing out with nature) running long distances on road ,listening to music or reading, praying, give me my meditative, thinking period, being at meetings thru the week,2 different fellowships and my church fellowships keep me involved around others and not so deep in my own head.Scary in there!!!!

I have not yet found out all the answers as to "why" a social life is needed, but I've come to experience through Narcotics Anonymous program that what I get to find out about myself through another, I never would get to see and become aware of alone...

I have a hard time finding the balance between my "Tisa Time" and isolationism. I'm one of those people that needs a lot of peace and quiet to remain emotionally balanced. I'm also one of those people that finds it much easier to stay at home alone than to put out the effort to connect with others.

I've also been part of another 12-step fellowship for almost 5 years now where there's actually something called "individual time" and "together time" suggested to be practiced as part of the program, I find it very helpful in working towards a healthy balance.
Also, in a way, at times, I've felt that practicing Steps Two, Three, Seven & Eleven regularly does turn my daily life and what transpires everyday into a constant interaction with my Higher Power... It's very hard to deny or not see and sense the Higher Power at work, being with you, both within and without, whenever I've had the strength and clarity to practice the program with more vigor and enthusiasm.
At other times, even meditation has been an excuse, a way of isolating for this sick addict... lol...
