I'm new to narcotics anonymous.  I want to be rid of this noose around my neck so bad, but I can't quit on my own.  I am miserable with my drug of choice and miserable without it.  I live in a small town and have very few options for meetings.  I went to the one that is offered a few times and all they did was tell stories about their drugging days and lined up to get papers signed afterwards.  I even saw some "deals" going on in the parking lot.  I am reaching out for any kind of help I can get! I thought maybe an online meeting might be a good option until I can find a different meeting in one of the surrounding towns.

I'm glad you're here, BarbieDoll! Unfortunately, not everyone at the meetings wants to get better. Do you have transportation? If so, you can go to

http://www.na.org/

There is a meeting locator on the site, where youy can search for meetings near you. If you don't have a car, you might be able to get an 800 number for a local NA hotline, and you might be able to contact people for rides.

BarbieDoll,We should not share about past drugging it is not a healthy subject.They are known as war stories . We all know about the war of drugs we were part of it.If there are selling dope someone should know ,the group will get thrown out of the meeting place if the wrong person gets wind of it.Tell either the chairperson,GSR ,or secretart about it in privacy.Also maybe you should look elsewhere for a different meeting. i was there and not long ago the online thing is just as good for me but you still need face time with other clean peopleso find a new meeting quick

Hi, I'm new here too.

My local meetings don't seem to helping me. Every week (usually weekend) I seem to keep going back to it.

Uppers, downers, smoke, needles. This is no way to live.

The message of Narcotics Anonamous is that an addict, ANY ADDICT, can STOP USING, LOSE the DESIRE TO USE, and FIND A NEW WAY TO LIVE.

Keep coming back... don't leave 5 minutes before the miracle happens!
