Question about: In-patient treatment programs

Hello folks,

I need some information.  My husband does not have health insurance and needs to be placed into an in-patient drug rehab program.  We live in Mississippi and he currently is in jail.  Does anyone know of any free inpatient treatment programs?  He is 44 years old and his doc is crack cocaine.  Please provide contact information if possible.

Thanks for all your support, prayers and assistance.

Hi deltaredd!
I know that here in new york state we had similar situation  with my 23 year old(heroin addict)While in jail he was seen by social service department and got into the "system"they sent him to a TC(THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY ) in place of doing jail time,There he was given help on medications(paxil, seraquil, adderol, respredal, thorazine, atavan, xanax, you name it)has OCD.MANIC DEPRESSION.ANGER ISSUES,ADD ETC)iT IS ON GOING AS HE ENDED BACK IN JAIL AND STRUNG OUT AGAIN.Try your social service department and let"him" do footwork while inside. Not much help with info but I am suggesting "you" make sure your taking care of yourself.Therapy ,naranon, alanon many self help groups,IM sure someone here will have more explicit info but remember also 'HE HAS TO WANT IT!..sure you know that but im going thru similar co-dependecy things with my son and know the "ride we can go on>let us know how its going.mike

Hi Delta

Is he being placed in one because of an order by the judge? OR does he want it , or do YOU want it?? This question is important I think when looking for a rehab. Is he going from jail to a rehab? If that's the case, dont they have that type of information.?

I wouldn't have a clue about Mississippi. I know here(Shreveport, La) that when you call one rehab center and tell them you have no insurance, they will direct you to a place that will take him. Here we have all types of them...inpatient, outpatient, some that will give "drugs" and some that wont even give you a tylenol! I know because I experienced both types.

Mike has spoken from experience and I wish you peace and serenity through all this...
Once you have made decisions for him, please make some for yourself! It can be really tough and Mike is right about one thing that we all know here...it doesnt work no matter what type of place he goes to if he doesnt want it bad enough.
Good Luck and take care of yourself.
Carol
