"If problems pile up and our resources for coping with them dwindle, we may feel out of control and in too much pain to do anything constructive for ourselves. We feel overwhelmed by life, and that feeling seems to make everything worse. When our lives seem to be falling apart, we reapply ourselves to the basics of the NA program. We stay in close contact with our sponser, work the steps, and go to meetings. We surrender again knowing that Victory lies in admission of defeat."
Thank you for sharing this... although this truth is so clearly and simply put, there's always this part of me that doesn't want to believe in another saying that goes... "there are no other short cuts!" lol...

admitting powerlessness I realized with the help of my Sponsor while trying to apply it in my daily life as a newcomer is actually refusing to settle down for the limited meagre power that I alone possess, so that I can tap into and make use of the most powerful force in the universe - a Higher Power! When this dawned on me while trying to ease into the hope of Step Two after having applied Step One, that's when it the paradox struck me - admitting that I can't is not actually admitting defeat as my sickness would want me believe, but it's actually the stepping stone to having the entire universe and the force behind it work with me, for me, protecting me, guiding me and carrying me come hell or high water! Definitely advantageous
