I'm so excited this is the first time I've been on here that other people are online at the same time...:) Hi Anthony and Raman... It feels more real....!!! LOL is this a dumb topic? How about.... mm ok I got one..
How do you all deal with people at work that are above you on the ladder that bring on feelings of rage and resentment to someone who is usually happy joyous and free???
seriously, this is new for me. Having to be around someone I wouldn't choose to be around in my personal life?? UHG. One of the greatest gifts of recovery is that I get to decide who the H I spend my time with.... but work? that is a different story. I really really really want to go to work and do my best and do it in God's name. All for HIM. But.. its hard. Because she is really mean!!! I would have a "mean people suck" bumper sticker on my car but that is so tacky.... LOL so..
Well Allie, tis a fact that stres is a great motuvator of the smoking urge, so the first priority I had in early non-smoking was to step away from stressful interactionas and situations.
My main tension pint was my weird need to prove my poinbt of view, thereby makiing myself more unmanageable.
And in those times of distress i decided I'd visit my friend, cigarette. I had no idea how to handle those tensions till I was ready to take outside help, from other ex-smokers ! And in doing so, I believe that I had the power to side step those traps that kept me feeling like wanting to smoke.

hey alygate4,how ya doin! man what a topic,I have been a manager at a facility for people with disabilities for over 30 years this may.Since that period I have been working with a person I cant stand,dont trust,you name it.We have actually been sent to EAP(employee assistance program) by our superiors because we would battle so.I am a production manager ,she is a job procurement person(SHE BRINGS WORK IN ,I HAVE TO GET WORK OUT)I cant begin to tell you how much of my life "was" consumed by interaction with her,and I m sure visa versa.Because I have been doing my step work consentrating on the spiritual principles of the program(along side my faith beliefs) my improvement in this area has been immense.She also started working only 3 days a week(my God is cool!!) because we are both getting up there in age(still young pup in my mind though) anyway,steps 8 and 9 have really become more pertinent to me as I remain aware of my part in all this mess,and now refuse to have that part of my life "tore up"Humility for me is not that easy and I still havent been able to work 9th step directly yet but i will.Humble PIE!! yuck...tHIS SCENARIO WAS MY BASIC EARLY SHARES IN PROGRAM. I am a hard head and have that need to be right thing going on and that dont make IT any easier. Its so sick at times I couldnt wait to get to work to feel the "energy " of confrontation " yikes,,It is gradual improvemnt and not immediate faultlessness for me now and it sure is helping.I will make direct amends before I leave this job(retirement age coming up) from there anyway!!Hope you can work out your dilemma,i guess thats why they call it work,if we liked it it would be our hobby!!! nice talkin with you peace

OH MY GOD. totally. Alot of times I stress myself out trying to get unhealthy people to see my point of view that is completely inconsequential to big dogs anyway. To have humility is to know my strengths and limitations. God knows them and I am beginning to as well....thanks Raman
Yes Allie, Dear God wants us to act in strength. Many time siVe prayd for a problem to be removed and God did not answer. I tried again and God still gave me npo response. So I asked around and someone said " Look, cant you see the obvious ? Gods not interfering yet because God thinks you have the strength to handle the situation". That set me free to believe in myself,,

thank you Mike!! That helps so much.... i liked this part;
She also started working only 3 days a week(my God is cool!!)
LOL that is funny....i am on (kinda) my first ninth step EVA.,... i say kinda cuz I havent' made any yet but i see where a situation like this could lead to harm being inflicted... I'm very passive and non-confrontational in most areas in which my children could be affected....(obeying laws, work issues).....haha so... I guess I'm resentful to this person for so many things...Experiencing things for the first time in recovery is an effing trip dude seriously.... So grateful i have a support group to reach out to. RESENTMENT on so many levels toward this person is going on and I don't want that in the program I'm trying to work. UhG gotta let it go. thanks guys:)
You have no idea how much you help me Damaris.... c'mon give us your input... this isn't just for me ya know.... there's probably a few addicts across the world dealing with this stuff and you have an awesome message;)
All I have is my experiences to base my opinion off, But I have had quite abit of experiences with said "Person" and it's like you have to look at her and think about everything she's saying with the thought of How sad that she doesn't know the freedom that you and I and other NA members know. How hard her life must be without knowing God as We know him! No Peace No Serenity No way you should allow anyone to take the light that you shine into that office away!!!
Maybe someday (through many prayers) She will be able to see How freeing it is to not have to judge others!
Hi Allie, I go through this all the time. Most of all I keep my mouth shut since that's were my shortcomings come out. I pray a lot and simply practice my 1st, 2nd and 3rd steps. I have found it best to always leave work at work and never talk about it once my feet hit my car to leave. If times get really tough I call or text someone during my shift from NA to just get my mind straight again. Hugs, Jackie
thank you Jackie. That helps a ton:) Yea, I think keeping my mouth shut is good advice. Unless someone asks for my opinion It's better to keep them to myself because of what you just said!!! SHORTCOMINGS!! I love this awesome NA perspective... How wonderful and blessed we are to have found the program...
thank you to everyone here for the support and unconditional love
