New here... I have a question about suboxone side effects...?

Hi everyone -
I am new to all of this - very new!  I have just started taking suboxone (this is my fourth day) and I was wondering if any of you have had extremely itchy skin and an all-over "drowsy" feeling when taking suboxone?? - my eyelids are so heavy all of the time now and I'm almost afraid to drive!  (I am on the lowest dose supposedly?) - have any of you experienced these things?  Does this go away with time?  I do not like feeling so "heavy"... but, I do think it is helping with my cravings for pain medicine... any advice from you all would be very helpful - thank you!!

Unfortuately, I am still taking suboxone and I will be probably the rest of my life?? unless my new Orthopedic doctor decides Im a candidate for another surgery. Im praying it will take place.

It still til this day makes my eyes feel droopy, and I feel groggy if I dont make myself move around right after I take it. Try to keep yourself doing something physical for at least an hour , even if its just cleaning house. Just dont watch tv or sit at a computer etc...for me it makes it worse. PLEASE dont drive until you have worked this issue out and know for sure you will not go to sleep. I still "pass out" at times, not even feeling tired before I did!
As for the itching, nope. I didnt look but I dont remember it being one of the main side effects either so I would definately ask about that.

Please be careful. Shot up it can cause a severe withdrawal and an overdose can definately kill you. Sub. slows down the respitory systym. A woman in my rehab 2 years back was taken away by ambulance because she tried saving up her medicine to get one good "high" and stopped breathing. Take only as prescribed!!!

good Luck to you.
welcome and keep coming backsmile

I was given a narcotic/opioid-inclusive medication 7 years back which I remember did induce heaviness/drowsiness that you describe above... it affected the way I felt within me and my way of being so much that I did not feel at all like I was clean I remember... it felt like just another altered state of mind/being, chemically induced, just like it was while I was using... so I eventually stopped taking it with consultation of my Therapist, and increased my talk-therapy sessions with my Therapist instead, coupled with seriously getting involved with working the program smile.gif

And as for Buprenorphine, that was my primary drug of choice in my last 5 years of using, and that was what brought me to my knees and surrender finally...

However, I would like to emphasise here that these are just my personal experiences, and I can only share what I went through...

One thing that I never skipped throughout my experiences is that I took all decisions in consultation with my Counselor as well as my Doctor... that helped me try out alternatives...
