I have been clean for four years, two months and seven days. I'm new to this site so I felt that I wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Elmira, New York 14901. I'm attending three meetings a week still. I have a sponsor and I'm working on step four. My drug of choice was heroin. I used drugs in one form or another for over twenty seven years. I've gone through seven rehabs and twenty detoxes trying to get clean since 1995 when I had my first introduction to Narcotics Anonymous. Throughout those twenty seven treatments I realized one important thing; that is the only thing that's ever helped me stay clean is Narcotics Anonymous. This new way of life is the only way of life for me.

Welcome p light. Thanks for sharing. One question for you. After all those treatments and finally surrendering to the program, why wait 50 months to do your 4th and 5th steps? Most people would've used again by now if they hadn't worked those steps already.
Hi-I admire you for not giving up. Many of us would not permot ourselves to come back after many tx's & detoxes, if we were even fortunate enuf to be able to. glad u r here.

Welcome Paul pretty much same story here I went through many treatments and programs before getting clean and finding NA and this site was a huge help to me. I will have 3 years next month.
hi paulmy name is Erika and iam an addict have been since i was 13 iam now 28 iam new to this so i hpe you and other members can help me i have not been to a meeting in ages i live in Australia and my dad seems to think that i do not need to go i do need to go it has been 6 weeks since i habe used anything am not seeing any one at the moment
Welcome! Nobody here can tell you if you NEED to go to a meeting. But ask yourself this: are you happy or are you just getting by?
You know what happens when we are just surviving. We are always needing something more. In the program we work hard but we find that satisfaction and true happiness. It doesn't matter what your dad thinks. I cannot stress that enough.

Hello Paul:)..I'm also from Elmira,NY. I have almost 120 days clean.My drug of choice being opiates in any form I could get.I recently completed a 30 day inpatient drug treatment program,and now attend a 2 day a week outpatient program in Ithaca,NY.Anyways..I was hoping you might be able to send me a schedule of the local NA meetings in Elmira?I am all set for Monday nights..but thats about it.I would sincerely apreceiate it.Thanks a bunch.Jen.
