Im addicted to oxycontins

Hey everyone.

Ive never gone to any meetings before, but id like to share my story with anyone who is interested to know where i stareted from, where i am, and where id like to go.

Perks. Cocaine, then perks. Cocaine, then ALOT of perks.

Perks. Perks. Cocaine, lots of more perks.

Oxys ... 20mg ... 40mg .... and eventually here now at 80s.

Funny eh ? lol..but very true.

How long ? a few years. longer than i would like to remember.

I think the secret to quitting, in combination with some medical drugs to help (like *short term* methadone, clonidine, tea and advil, is to have faith in yourself and in God and making yourself believe that you are stronger than any addiction.

Im on day 2, gotta ride it out...physically..then mentally.

If anyone can relate and would like to quit, ill share some advice that has helped me before and will help me again get over this miserable addiction.

I have tried several ways, but these help the most.

80ml/mg bottle of methadone. I drink 20ml/mg day for 8 days, 2 bottles, slowly tapering off near the end. That is enough time for the toxins to come out of your body. For some, it may require some more.

Another way, of completely not even touching another opiate is with the use of clonidine.

I take 0.1mg clondine, 3x day for 10-20 days, to help with the cold chills, sweats, anxiousness etc... that comes from pulling away from the poison. Id like to believe advil does help with the aches aswell, which is really just a few days.

Hope this helps.

"....is to have faith in yourself and in God and making yourself believe that you are stronger than any addiction."

I agree that faith in God is vital to getting and remaining clean...- As recovering addicts we believe we are POWERLESS over our addiction... That is why we need a power greater than ourselves to get and stay clean. I know for me I will never be stronger than my addiction.. Once I start believing that I'm in dangerous territory. But if I am in God's will, he can carry me through. i just have to be willing to do the footwork... meetings, sponsor, steps all the things that have worked for the people I meet who have achieved long term recovery...

It is awesome that you are here and I'm so glad you're reaching out! Check out a meeting if you can... having a safe place to go where you can share where you are at is awesome. Also, you'll be able to help another addict who may be struggling and can relate to what you're going through. (((na hugs))))
