I look so much prettier straight!

For all these years I've hated having my picture taken because I always have red droopy eyes and look pale. I think I am a relatively pretty girl but ppl always used to ask if I was tired or sad.

Lately I'm able to look in the mirror after a shower without red eyes! I look pretty again...I can wear makeup and be proud of myself and YES take pictures of myself without looking like a freaking stoner.

this is one thing I love about being clean.

Anyone else notice that?

emily

how to tell without pics  biggrin just kidding.  yes I swear I look younger today then I did 20 years ago when I was drinking and using.  Sure I've got a few more wrinkles (no grey hair yet smile ) but that stoned out look ages you for sure.

yep, I got a wide waistline and a double chin as a blessing of recovery, and I don't see a stubble on my face nowadays when I look in the mirror, at least not very often I must admit smile.gif

I don't even have to see you to know you're beautiful!

Yes, my appearance improved drastically when I got clean! I'm so happy to hear you so happy!

You guys are all so funny, I loved your replies! - BigV that's 299 Ibs of LUVVVV!!
I am the opposite, having been a pot head it's hard to find an appetite!! I'm like a shrinking violet here - I lost 6 Ibs in 9 days - but it's coming back. More important I slept well the last two nights and I'm feeling good. My cough is all but gone. REALLY starting to feel human again. Thanks to you all for your support, I really feel this would not have been possible without EACH one of you and your special insites and hearts.

Last night there was a show about MJ on National Geo reported by Lisa Ling. I kept waiting for them to talk about the negative effects of pot, and they never did! They had very little bad to say except that the feds will get you! It was hard to watch all those ppl blissfully smoking up but in the end it was good enough to live vicariously through them...most of them were using medically b/c they were dying, can't say I envy that.

best, emily

Glad to hear you're getting and feeling better Emily...

Yes, when my father was in his last stages of Cancer, and in unbearable pain, I found it a great blessing that he can get his opioid pain medication you know... that's the least we could do to ease his pain... These drugs be it Alcohol, marijuana, Opium or tranquillizers are meant to be used for various purposes, some of them, no doubt beneficial for mankind, but I guess we being addicts, suffering from the dis-ease of addiction, only know how to misuse/abuse/use these drugs all the time... lol...

Yep definite down play on maryjane, any thing abused is going to cause problems many people in denial its mind and mood altering it may not be nearly as dangerous as alcohol but it has ADDICTING QUALITY'S.

Here in california big talk on legalizing it just so Gov can get $$$to fix Government problems love how they decide that the peoples health is less important then having moneynodisbelieffurious.

Congratulations. It is shocking how much our looks change when we are using.  When I was using I got those same comments about looking tired or mad? But I did not realize my looks had gotten worse to me I looked the same. However once I was sober then I realized like you did damn I look good.  And everyone around me continues to comment on how good I look again. So it is a good feeling. I am glad you got "it"  back.
