I was told to go to meetings and listen for someone (of your sex) that sounds like they have a voice/story which you respect. Ask them if they have experience with the 12 steps.....and then just flat out ask them. It is an honor to be of assistance to someone in need.
We addicts can only keep what we have by giving it away. Don't be afraid to ask!
Hi Kelly, welcome to the board. Keep us posted on your search for a sponsor. Dave gave you and excellent suggestion, another is to pray and ask the God of your understanding to guide you to the sponsor you "need," not necessarily the one you "want." Good luck!!!
