So my counselor requested that i go to online na meetings or forums or whatever 30 minutes a day.

I've been here a few days, just looking around, I've been clean 8 days, used for 10 years.....there was a 2 year interval where I was clean but that was a long time ago.

Right now I'm taking adderal which is basically legal speed, 30 mg a day, and I know it's cheating, so maybe I'm not really clean, but it's prescribed so I feel better about it, anyway today I took my last one and I don't have any refills left.

So I guess that means tommorows my first day of being clean, :)

It seems like everyone here knows each other fairly well......or does it just seem that way?

Anyways regarding my first sentance, am I in the right place?

Thanks.

Hello, Beth. My name is Dan. Thank you for posting and welcome. My sponsor always opens his sharing at meetings by saying to anyone new, "If you want to stop using dope, you're in the right place." I'm glad you found us and hope you make many friends here. Please keep coming.

Congratulations on your first day clean, that is Awesome!!! Here's a big NA Hug for you:((((((Beth)))))) You never have to be alone again, you can always come here and read some good positive recovery input to lift your spirit and reprogram your mind.

Also, is a great place to ask questions you might not be comfortable asking in a meeting and you can share your feelings here and be pretty sure others can empathize. Welcome, Beth, and keep coming!!!

Beth,

Welcome I am shannon an addict. If I take the medication only as prescribed I am doing okay it is when I want to take the medication the way it is prescribed that get's me into trouble with my self and my sponsor. I have some basic things I would love for you to do first of all is:

I suggest this to u as they were suggested to me by my sponsor:

1: make 1 meeting a day for 90 days and get a phone number at each and every meeting you go to from the women.

2: find a sponsor and use that sponsor like you used the dope.

3: Find a homegroup and become a part of.

4: Get and use those phone numbers.

5: Get and read your basic text especially "Who IS AN ADDICT"

6: Don't use and keep coming back.

I hope this finds you in a great mood tonight and welcome home you never have to use again!

Hi , beth,  we do all know each other, thats because we are all addicts, we feel that the best way we can stay clean is to show each other how much we care about each other and by listening to each others stories, Its not always easy as we can be a cantankerous bunch. But it makes us family.

Yes your in the right place.

congratulations on your first day clean.

  welcome home

Some great suggestions to take to heart, I would definately go to www.na.org and try to find some meetings in your area. There is great recovery here, and to me, this board is a wonderful supplement to regular meetings, but it's not the same.

I don't know anyone here, and the most of us don't know each other. The few that may have probably just been around longer than the rest of us~! LOL...like Anthony said, we do know each other due to being addicts. The only real difference umong us: the people, places, and things...and perhaps the name we choose to call our Higher Power.

You're umong friends, and most likely, you're in the right place. Welcome~! (((((BIG HUGS!)))))
