Hi Everybody, I'm posting because I will be away from the computer for a few days. This weekend is our Central Indiana Area Convention and for the first time in a few years, I'll not be involved in service, just a convention goer. I'm taking an extra day off to get ready because I fully intend to ENJOY this convention. Last year this time I was near to pulling my hair out, what little there is. I served on the programming committee, finding the workshop and main speakers, selecting workshop topics, recruiting chairpersons, etc. We met once a month from Feb thru June, then twice a month July and Aug, every week in Sept. and every DAY the week leading up to the convention. Then it was 20 hours a day Friday and Saturday AT the convention. It was like running a marathon then following that up with a series of wind sprints. LOL! Well, this year I'm just going to celebrate recovery, nothing else. If you live within driving distance of Indianapolis, please, come and join us. This is a fantastic convention!! But, then, I AM a little biased! Thanks, all of you, for being here. I truly enjoy reading everyones posts and I may be off having fun, but I'll look forward to getting back on Sunday to check in. Big NA Hugs to all. Dan H.

Have a wonderful time, Dan. I have only been to one convention. I was still actively using then. I plan on going next year....I will be 9 months clean then.
After dinner, when they did the countdown. The spirit in the room was so moving that I knew that I needed to be a part of that group.
I knew that I would do whatever it took to get there..
Looks like I am on my way...
Have fun Dan.

Have a great time Dan gets me excited I have never been to an NA convention, I was taken to an AA one once while in treatment and thats was relly quite something I haven't forgotten I had like 10 days clean and I remember that countdown too I wanted to be clean like others so bad but it wasn't to be then.
WOW! What a weekend!! Man, I heard some dynamite speakers, enjoyed some wonderful fellowship, ate too much delicious food, met recovering addicts from ALL OVER, and fed my spirit, to boot! Randy Q. from East L.A. was the Banquet speaker, talked about how the program is teaching him how to raise his two year old daughter alone. Very emotional time. Tyrone from Chicago was Awesome! Shared on "becoming a successful PERSON" as a result of the steps. Growing up is part of the deal, whether we want to or not! Way cool. I went to the talent show, got a sponsee who performed with a band of gray beard rockers- The ProcrastiNAtors- LOL, it was GREAT! Addicts sang, recited poetry, did impressions, one couple did a Sonny and Cher routine- HE was Cher. I hosted couple of shifts in the Hospitality Suite, you know I just wouldn't feel right not doing ANY service, especially when they were short handed. I got to do everything I ever wanted to do at a convention....except sleep! Man, I came to work at 3:00 PM Sunday to work 16 hrs and had already been up since 6:00 Saturday. To quote a former speed freak friend..."I'll get all the sleep I need when I'm dead." ANYONE, if you're new and get an opportunity, go to a convention. It was a BALL!! Thanks, everyone for your support and kind words and thoughts. Love ya!!
