Everything all at once?!? How do you handle THAAT!

Day 40 and I know recovery is new. But today was HARD. Got out of rehab and now my whole life is in transition. I'm still fighting my body to regain my energy, I'm back working full time, I've got kids (my oldest leaves for college next week), I've got money problems (I know...who doesn't) so I have to sell my house and so after working all day (I'm a middle school teacher) I come home and do the mom thing then jump into fixing my house (which is a disaster cuz I was high for a year) to sell. I AM MAXXED OUT! Now I DO NOT want to use, but everything is happening at the same time and my body and brain can't keep up. I'm not as solid as usual and I am worn out. I can't do it and I'm about to break!!!!!!! Anybody know what I'm talking about?

hi carlyle, im anthony im an addict.. a little overwhelmed are ya ?frustrated.gifcongrats on 40 days its 40 mIRacles in a row, handshake.gif that aint bad. headbang.gif. this works for me. take a minute for yourself. walk.or jog.ride a bike do the exersize thing. that alone helps me alot. stay in touch with addicts, in here is good but dont leave out face to face. its critical.go to meetings and share. take it one second one hour one day at a time. trust your higher power.hope this helps..good luck to you .and KEEP COMING BACK

someone once asked me "how do you eat an elephant?" you can only take one bite at a time. go figure something so simple apply that to your recovery and things will become easier to handle

Remember " easy does it " " keep it simple " theres a reason for those ancidotes, we don't do well with stress, so like manon mentioned take one bite at a time.

When i was a little kid there was a guy who ate a whole car, yeah for real I still have the article, he did it one little piece at a timebiggrin

We're up against addiction and up against ourselves thats a double edged sword, what we have to do is pick up an new sword to fight against the other, its combat at times mostly because we RESIST new ideas and behaviors but once we start getting used to doing things differently then our lives change.

"Nothing changes if nothing changes" thats another one i like that I heard WAY WAY back from one of my counselors in recovery and he was right....
