side effects of Cocaine abuse

cryHi, I am grateful for this forum, as I have been reading different posts regarding drug abuse... I am baffled, but trying to really understand my husband's drug and alcohol abuse.

The other day, he was wheezing (recently learned last month that he has asthma), and I sent him to the emergency room.  He has pneumonia, which I was really shocked about.  The hospital wanted to keep him for at least 2 days, but he refused and wanted to come home with me.  He is really stubborn.  He's on antibiotics and bedrest.

I couldn't help but wonder, if Cocaine is the reason behind his pneumonia and asthma?  Does it affect your immune system and lungs?  My husband has never had either ailments in his entire life, and now at 46, he is learning for the first time about both of them. I couldn't help to think that long term cocaine use may have played a part in this. My husband has been using cocaine for 10 years now...

Can anyone share their experience with cocaine use, and whether it messed up your immunity or caused other health issues?

thank you....cry

hey jbaby , cant belive nobodies jumped on this yet, now im no doctor though i considered myself for years to be an " unlicensed pharmicist " smile. its been my experience and that of most every fiend i ever knew that if you were a little sick runny nose or a slight cough that those symptoms were going to get alot worse after a binge..ive always said and assumed that chronic drug use did lower my immunity.and made me worse than before i started. im feel pretty postive that a medical search , google or whatever can give you factual stats about that.confused.  if your hubby is smoking coke then anything having to do with breathing is affected. broncial problems including asthma and pheumonia are common among crack users. im pretty sure that drug abuse in general aside from the addicition , just makes you sick. also your hubbys age..46 aint no kid.and its likely his lifestyle is catching up on him. weirdface..whatever happens , good luck to you, your gonna need it sun.gif  anthonyg
