"Our spiritual condition is the basis for a successful recovery that offers unlimited growth." Basic Text, page 43
When our members celebrate their recovery anniversaries, they often say that they've "grown up" in NA. Well, then, we think, what does that mean? We start to wonder if we're grown-ups yet. We check our lives and yes, all the trappings of adulthood are there: the checkbook, the children, the job, the responsibilities. On the inside, though, we often feel like children. We're still confused by life much of the time. We don't always know how to act. We sometimes wonder whether we're really grown-ups at all, or whether we're children who've somehow been put into adult bodies and given adult responsibilities.
Growth is not best measured by physical age or levels of responsibility. Our best measure of growth is our spiritual condition, the basis of our recovery. If we're still depending on people, places, and things to provide our inner satisfaction, like a child depending on its parents for everything, we do indeed have some growing to do. But if we stand secure on the foundation of our spiritual condition, considering its maintenance our most important responsibility, we can claim maturity. Upon that foundation, our opportunities for growth are limitless.
Just for today: The measure of my maturity is the extent to which I take responsibility for the maintenance of my spiritual condition. Today, this will be my highest priority. Page 8

thank God I was in a fit spiritual condition today,,iwas able t bear the loss in a billiards match quite gracefully !! i was winning it,,, ut celebrated that eventualityeven before the match was over,,, then to my horror i see my opponent socring and overtaking me and then the time was over leaving me with a loss rather than a win !!! what i cannot understand is why i wanted to lose that match even tho i was in with a great chance !! but te ost importanat thing is that this day is simply left the room after saying to my opponent "all the best " instead of throwing a temper tantrum etc.like ive done many times !!! so i had a great experince of staying serene inspite of losing a winning match,,must have been overconfident,, the reverse of self centred fear !! and i also feel lonely cause ive never read members shares on takin part in games, tournaments etc. and sharing how they felt when they win or lose !!!

This year i have had to handle losing many many times over, this gold prosecting has left me bewildered and even frothing with anger.
I have 3 different pieces of equipment a 2" dredge that was made back in the early 1970's which took me months to get working and I have not found gold with it yet, then a 3" dredge which was used also and after taking it out on the river 2 times I finally got it working right in my girlfriends Dads swimming pool still haven't gotten it on the river working. Then I bought a 2" high banker that works great i have some gold with that. All spent around $1,500 dollars just on those 3 pieces and I have found maybe in the area of $100 dollars worth of gold this year.
I have had my foot ready to shove my 2" dredge out into the water and say F-it and give up I have yelled to the mountians in anger and frustration, I have gone so many times looking and came home with nothing as far as gold goes, but for me part of all this has come the experience it takes to be a better prospector. There are times when we don't win and there are times when we come out with an enormous win, I dont think I would appreciate those big wins unless I experienced the losses.
I know one day and it may be soon or later that I will find a patch of gold, maybe just an ounce maybe a pound and maybe the motherlode but I know as long as I stick to this it will get better. I want to be a winner too Raman I want people to see my huge vials or nuggets of gold and i want to feel the exhileration, takes patience and determination and not giving up against anything, nothing but oursleves can get in our way from becoming winners.
Also its all humbling brother we want what we want and we want it now idea has to get worn down, I accept the outcome no matter what, my fear is losing my health and never getting into the patch of gold, hurting my back or some other major part of my body where I wouldn't be able to hall my equipment to a river or creek, fears, my imagination runs wild wanting me to give up and admitt failure no way I'm doing that I love other aspects of all of this now just being in the mountains is wonderful, maybe you like the smoky dens of the pools halls ? are they like that there or is this something much more sophisticated ? LOL I was a pool hall player in beer joints down in Bakersfield california, we drank hard usually got into fights sometime durning the evening, took ugly women home who I thought were gorgeous LOL.
