'twas the night before Christmas...

The most beautiful christmas forward that I received this christmas... moved me to tears... a post from the loved one of an addict... This beautiful share filled with the loving grace of the Higher Power has to be shared with all...

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house One creature was stirring . . . my husband . . . the louse.

His stockings were hung from the back of the chair, And he looked at his glass with a drunkenish stare.

His pay check came home in a bottle that year, And I knew that Saint Nicholas wouldn't come here.

I thought of the kiddies asleep in their beds, While visions of presents danced through their heads.

But I knew that the gift that would make the kids smile Would be to see Pop off the booze & drugs for awhile.

When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter, That I jumped out of bed to see what was the matter, When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But two nicely dressed gents with eyes bright and clear, They said that they came here, the old man to see, And they brought out a paper that said, "Who is an addict"

They talked and they laughed and they told of their using, And before they were through, I could tell Pop was thinking.

That Christmas Pop didn't use all that day, He just sat there and shook and without much to say.

But that was the last time that Christmas came round, That Pop acted up like a drug-addicted clown.

Now when the kids ask, "Mom, is there Santa Claus?"

I say, "Sure, one night two of them came to our house!"

Each twenty four hours is like Christmas Day, Since those two Saint Nicks brought us the gift of NA.

Now here is what our family wishes for you, Peace and good will and recovery, too!

And here is a greeting from the Nar-Anon wife, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good life!"

I'm sure there are thousands if not millions that wish that one wish for there loved one, it would be life changing, we're all very fortunate and so are our family's, everyone has a special gift this year wishing more could have this gift to share along with us.

I was at my girls family's tonight an there was a little lite drinking going on, I joked some with them they know i'm clean I looked at the bottles one exceptionally large bottle of vodka and wondered just how much misery that bottle was going to bring, I don't want that misery back ever again.

Krist sake yes Vin,,,for surviving this season im down to basics=
playing my music i need to be real careful,,
keep awy from drunks,, dont even talk to em,, however friendly they maybe,,
this decision is not bsed on any negative judgement but the fact of my experience,,
God Bless all the addicts wherever they maybe,
let not even one of em say they did not have a chance to recover,,
may the hand of NA always be there when they reach out,
for that I am responsible,,
