Semi~Sad Christmas :-(

My stepsons, 8 and 12, will not be coming for Christmas this year. They live 1,000 miles away. My husband is very sad, and I am a bit sad too, that we will not have any children in the house over Christmas. Their stepfather is active in the military and is being deployed anytime right after Christmas- Jan. 1st. So they need to spend time with him before he goes.

Please say a prayer that their stepdad will return from Afghanistan safe and healthy. Also, keep my husband in your thoughts, if you would please, as he will be sad this year. I am going to show him as much tenderness as I can before I leave for vacation with my father December 26th.

Thanks.
Joni

O Lord our help in ages past
our hope in years to come !!!
I love you the NA Way for sharing that Joni,,
i had to feel sadness,,
when J. my gf. informed me that her to trip to meet me in Xmas week was off because of some health issues for her !!
more than anything i feel very tender for her !!
im very vulnerable as of now ,,,,,
id love to take a break and visit her but the problems in getting a visa to England to visit her in real,,
its very difficult for a Third World citizen to go abroad,, even if it is to meet someone he loves very much and that someone special wants him very much,,,
LIFE ON LIFEs terms ,,, sigh,,,,,,

Well, Raman, we will just have to all keep eachother company here, and check in over the holidays. It is sad that it is so difficult for you to get a visa. Maybe there is a special reason why Higer Power is keeping the two of you where you are? Just a thought.

I have high hopes, and thank you both, for the replies.

Joni

Sure Joni,,, anytime lady !!!
and yes,, HP must be helping us in "practicing" each others company before we actually meet !!
in fact we spend a lot of time time chatting and looking at each other on internet video,,,
so I gusess Ill simply have to wait patiently for the ""real meeting"".
(the UK govt. this morning has brought a new rule=tourist visas are down to 3 months and not even 6 months like it was before)
And Joni,, It will be my greatest pleasure, previlege and recovery orientation to chat, mail and video with you all over the "lonely days".
( Gods sake,, the other nite at a show someone asked for "Are you lonesome tonite" by The King,,,and when i sang it ,,emotions came forth easily !!)
Close association and identification with others here ismy best ground for growth !!

lol..... so you are a singer? Neat!! I used to play in an all-original music heavy metal band called "Automatic". I miss playing music. I hope to get a new electric guitar and amp after Christmas!! Decent keyboards are fairly inexpensive now, in the US... (being that everything here is made in China..... ugh)

I must admitt I get very depressed at this time of year. Sorry about your step sons Joni and the visa situation Raman. My family is all together as we are moving house. My younger sister, who is a lot younger than I (16 years to be exact) has just flunked out of university and we haven't told my father (he is going to blow a gasket big time - except his blowing of gaskets is done slow and silently you know). It doesn't help that she's behaing like a prima donna.

I keep asking her to be helpful around the house and cooperate. In our culture, one still has a lot to do with the extended family. And my Dad is the head of the family. We had two weddings in the family in the last two weeks and she wouldn't lift a finger to help. But she still expects him to pay all her bills and go pub crawling with her mates. She's got to meet the man half way. You get what I'm saying? And I'm not going to act as her intermediary. I have my own problems. She's not a kid. She twenty years old. Now she's talking about going to work as an au pair in the UK for a year as she never had a gap year. Firstly she doesn't really like kids. And looking after someone else's children is a big responsibility. We have a four year old niece. She's never looked after her for an afternoon. The child has a nanny. She's never changed a diaper. Made a bottle. My sister's a brat, who lives in a big house with maids and drivers. She'd be the hired help. She'd never cope. Anyway enough of my family dramas. Yeah guys. Lets keep each other company over the festive season. I'm definitly going to need you.

Love to you all.

Chedza
