PR Learning Day

I'm off to a PR Learning Day now in my local fellowship. Am looking forward to it and many more members are here from the fellowship. The energy and enthusiasm here in my local fellowship right now is unbelievable. Every one is chipping in with their contributions. The Hospital & Insitutions Committee, the Literature Translations Committee, the Public Relations Commitee, the upcoming Convention and it's committee, the Outreach efforts, the active participation of most of the groups at the Area Service Committee meetings, the recovery meetings in our area with it's own attractive formats and the wonderful shares of experience, strength and hope that I get my daily nourishment from, the strong emphasis on recovery through Sponsorship, working the Steps, involvement in recovery meetings and homegroups, service at the group, area and subcommittee levels, interest at the regional level, it's all so amazing. So grateful to be a part of my area fellowship. I love it all, the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, the agreements and the disagreements, at the end of it all, eventually, the way everyone unites unanimously and focus on the task at hand - trying to carry the message of hope and freedom to addicts... I haven't seen a greater miracle like that which transpires in NA communities... We are truly blessed, Higher Powered, inspite of our sickness... lol...

Now I gotta go, shall come back and share the miracle of this PR Learning Day with all of you.

Stay blessed smile.gif

It was an awesome Learning Day smile.gif with a participation of 25-30 members. The format was good, interaction-oriented, and the mix of members present was amazing, newcomers, oldtimers etc. Went very smooth, the focus was clear... Many principles of the traditions like Anonymity etc. was widely discussed and shared about. I liked what one of the members shared, that the most cunning part of his disease is his tendency to pick up the credit for the good service work done and in the process, try to discredit others for their contribution, and how working in the subcommittees and trying to follow the traditions and it's principles deprive him of that addictive tendency. Another one from another member I liked was "being a part of is more important than being the center of attraction."

A mock-session of certain questions asked by the public at PR Presentations and the answers we can give to them was very informative and entertaining with everyone participating in it, acted as a good first-hand exposure of what we can encounter at such presentations. I tell you, reading about all this from the Handbooks and accumulating this knowledge is one thing, but practically experiencing it as part of a group with a common goal is a different thing altogether smile.gif

Learnt a lot today, and glad I took a few of my Sponsees too. They were glad they attended it, and seemed keen and enthusiastic to learn more smile.gif

May our Higher Power bless our efforts and guide us in our twelfth step work as a group.

Good to know the energy is flowing in my area !!
i was actually informed by the ASC Chair about this but I was already committed to play my music at a wedding !!So that took priority !!
Great to know that we are growing !!
Both in mubres and quality and recovery content !!
On Friday I had a call from an older member and we recounted thos early days when we had just a handful of addicts who were homegroup members of the then ony NA group here !!
We didnt have much by way of hearing older members share the Na message nor did we have that many events.
however for us  the high point of the day was meeting each other and sharing problems in the hope of finding a solution.
we also shared lots of feelings as well as our understanding of why it works.
Narcotics Anonymous,,, my help in ages past and my hope for the years to come,,,may our numbers increase, cause when a desperate, dying addict reaches out I want the hand of NA to be there !!
For that I am responsible ........

You must be knowing Jabir from Chennai then, Raman. He was here yesterday visiting B'lore fellowship along with Vinod and Ablu, all three have been good friends of mine in NA for years now. Jabir, along with Mucundh (a recovering addict from the AA fellowship) and a couple of other addicts were the first to start a NA meeting in Chennai Area some 15 years back.

I guess the overweight member you're referring to is Lal. Yes, Ram Sethu still continues to rock...

What would I do without the B'lore fellowship and kindred spirits like yousmile.gif There's this popular saying in the fellowship that I changed a little to exclaim to myself many times, "But for the grace of NA, there go I..."
