Quite an experience hiring then firing an NA member

to help me paint, he did  a few things that just blew me away, not acceptable and I played along in order to keep myself from getting angry, he even tried to con me out of extra money on his pay so he could get a cell phone,,, B.S not happening here.

So told him there was no more work I didn't feel like going around and around telling him all the things I saw him doing wrong or asking WHY he did certain things, I actually have a feeling he was making arrangements to cop dope after he worked, he borrowed one of my other helpers cell phone and made 4 different calls to 4 different people, he took off from the job for almost 3 hours and when I got back there he hadn't done a thing and the other guy I had helping said the guy was driving him nuts asking to use his phone.

Anyhow once again feel insecure about how I handled it I was just thinking of my own peace and not wanting a big todo over it, not sure how thats helping him though, maybe I should have told him WHY I wasn't going to use him anymore but he's a BS artist and would have just talked his way around it I already saw that coming out of him.

So I guess I didn't really fire him did I ? evileye guess theres more then one way to do something and get the same results, feedback is welcome idea

Sounds like it's bugging you a great deal.
Good you got rid of him and if he comes back tell him you just don't want him working for you, straight out.
In my op, you don't need this. Be happy.
Great share by the way.

BigV,

It sounds like it was a good idea to let this person go. It's okay that you did it easily and without conflict. It is not our job to tell people every little thing about themselves. If the person is using or headed in that direction - and I think you can trust your instinct on this - the conversation would have been pointless. It is impossible to reason with a using addict.

Peace out.

Thankyou for the support.

I would have discussed it with him but what I observed was a person with too many excuses, I did confront him about the quality of his work which was below what I was looking for, he blamed the wall LOL I went back and redid his work in one area and it looked fine just needed another coat of paint it wasn't THE WALLS fault.........

Sounds to me like you did a good job handling it the way you did. As you already knew and chose to practice today- not every problem is best handled with confrontation. Spiritual principles are awesome things to have and even better when we choose to use them, like you chose to do today. Proud of ya Vini! You took the wise way, the spiritual way, through a conflict. Whats to say later on down the road this guy won't realize he has a problem and realize his need for help? He will probably fare much better getting that help if no one has given him a bad taste for "those NA folks", LOL. Good job my friend in not only practicing and showing your serenity but also showing the NA WAY to someone who hasn't even got a clue- yet.

well in my business I have a clear cut policy,,,
my attitude is simple,,
it my business,, so I hire and  I fire,,
thats the responsiblity my clients who pay me give me !!!
Im not afraid to spell out and get acceptance on what i want on a particular job,,,
if the certain person dosent fit the job,, thats it !!!
Basically I make the rules and get my employees to agree,, and if they disagree to good reason then its ok,,
however I will not have any of my team back out on commitment without being responsible in some way,,
thats the contract I deal !!!
