"Our newly found faith serves as a firm foundation for courage in the future." Basic Text, page 93
The foundation of our lives is what the rest of our lives is built upon. When we were using, that foundation affected everything we did. When we decided that recovery was important, that's where we began to put our energy. As a result, our whole lives changed. In order to maintain those new lives, we must maintain the foundation of those lives: our recovery program.
As we stay clean and our lifestyles change, our priorities will also change. Work and school may become important because they improve the quality of our lives. And new relationships may bring excitement and mutual support. But we need to remember that our recovery program is the foundation upon which our new lives are built. Each day, we must renew our commitment to recovery, maintaining that as our top priority.
Just for today: I want to continue enjoying the life I've found in recovery. Today, I will take steps to maintain my foundation. pg. 188
All the best on your dredging BigV, and so very true what this JFT says... Regular meetings and applying the steps in all areas of my life on a daily basis helps me keep the focus on myself...

Just got in Tahir what a weekend I am totally burnt, physically scorched by the sun and the work involved in setting up and running the dredge, 5 hours yesterday then another 5 hours today then tearing everything down and hiking all our stuff up 100 foot embankment took everything I had to tear down camp and drive home, i'm exhausted.
But without my little foundation none of this would be possible and I love it all, much better then the foundation I had when using which i hated yet held on so tightly, now i'm glad I let go.
I got a little gold not alot once again, but someday my labors will pay off all the hard work and determination will have been worth while, I am in the learning stage I ran a big dredge this weekend and it was good experience, just like in life we get chances to do things we never had the opportunity to do before or things we turned down because it got in the way of using, a whole new world opens up to us.
What did I see this weekend, welp I got to look a large fish right in the face LOL, all those hours underwater taking my breath from a repirator was peaceful, saw a mamma duck and her babys swimming around, birds all over, gorgous sunset, I slept with the crickets chirping and not another sound. I selpt GREAt and woke up feeling good I was back in the water at 7:30 am swimming in a cool river all by myself no one for miles around the kid I took was still aseelp till around 9am and it was good just to hang out with myself.
I met a few really nice people who have the same interests some have been doing this there whole lives, some for the past 20 years right there where i was they go back each summer hunting for gold, its a wonderful hobbie but its demanding and even grueling at times for your dealing with the forces of nature.
Anyhow I got carried away, it was alot of fun, now back to real life again for another week
Wow, thanks for the pics, and indeed, it's a hobby that needs a lot of passion and drive... So glad to have you back with us though

I like a good smoke now and then Raman I found a place it's my cigarette store and they have all sorts of tobaccos and the coal.
I've gotta watch myself Tahir this has become an absession of sorts I just went and looked and a bigger dredge today I WANT to buy it it's twice as big as the one i have now LOL. One owner and its been sitting for awhile an not used much lately but i'll put that sucker to work.
I found out more about that river today from a guy who has a few claims that he mines in right in that area I need to be about 1 mile up stream down below his claims, now thats impossible to drive to you have to either boat up stream or drag your dredge there which is probably what i'm going to do. I'll just take a sleeping bag and an ice chest and pull my dredge up there unless I can get a boat but thats where alot of gold is at i'm told........we shall see stay tuned to the next episode
BigV, that looks like a peaceful place. You must see and hear some interesting wildlife there. Is dredging for gold your hobby?
And somewhat of an obsession I have never had something haunt me in my dreams this much other then a woman LOL so gold and women have somehting very much in common
It is pretty neat theres so much to learn, from learning how to read a river and figure out where the gold is laying is interesting in itself, also the geology of the land and not just that but the history man has with these areas go back more then 150 years, all nationalitys were involved in the 1849 gold rush here in California people from all over the world came right here to these Sierra Nevada mountain range to find gold I have walked on ground that chinese, Mexican, English and Irish walked and worked hunting gold.
