hi. i have just recently made the decision to come clean from my cocaine, ecstacy, pot, etc. use. it has a lot of problems with my family since they found out, but they just put me in my room and put me back into my public school. this is not helping me stay clean.
i found a NA meeting place close to where i live, but i'm really too afraid to go. i want to go, because i think that maybe this will help. but the whole "group" idea scares me, especially if i walk in alone.
can someone tell me how they managed to walk into their first meeting?
i'm scared they'll say i'm too young to know what it's like or that i'm not a heavy enough user. and i'm honestly just scared to even talk.
If your having problems then you have a problem period don't let anyone tell you you don't belong that is for YOU to decide not others.
You sound young now is a good time before you experience things called "YETS" in other word things that haven't happened yet in your drug use and the longer you remain using the closer you'll get to thoughs yets.
You walk into the room and sit down, when they ask if there are any newcomers raise your hand and tell them who you are thats all you need to do for now oh and listen get a book and read then get a sponsor later, for now just stay clean, go to some meetings eventually you will get to know people us old druggies are pretty cool to be around some of us are real funny jokers :)
Durnit I forgot to go to my meeting tonight , thanks for reminding me i'll catch the late one.
Hang in there and keep coming back like to hear more from you .
Yeah..what he said..lol..If ya need a friend I am here anytime..I have myspace too..Just msg me and Ill give you my address..Keep coming back..and WELCOME!! *hugs*

Hiiiiiiiiii, So glad you're here. My first meeting, i just, as Big V said, walked in and sat down, raised my hand, and at the end of the meeting walked up to the secretary (each room has a sec., ask for him/her) and they will surely assist. Ask them for a meeting schedule and literature) Peiople will also come up to you and offer assistance. Once you walk in, you are the most important person there. I am NOT just saying that, it the NA basic policy. Good luck and you're soooooooooo lucky to be young. Love, Magellan
I can identify with being scared. I was scared to death, but I was more scared of using again! However, the people that came before me (predecessors) welcomed me with open arms! Raise your hand and let people know who you are. Get a phone list and use it! The newcomer is the most important person at any meeting. If you need help, that is where you will get it.

thank you all so much. i really needed to hear it from people who know how i feel. this is going to be tough one for me, but i'm going to find some courage to go.
i'm also really worried about using again. obviously, this program helps people quit, but if you mess up...
i don't know if can stay clean very long. but i guess that's why i should go to the meeting in the first place, right?
