Just thought I would share what I did yesterday with you all. I have been so busy over the holidays and was unable to make it out to Windsor to deliver the last of the Christmas gifts, it's a 4 hour drive from home.
I had very little sleep the night befor and woke up late, I was not thinking clear and for some reason decided it would be a good day to go. So I packed up the car and rushed around getting the last of the gifts for my sons side of the family up there.
It was 4:00 befor we got on the road, after being stuck in trafic in the city we were releaved to be on the open high way and making good time.
About 3 1/2 hours into the drive I had a horable realization, my whole body went hot and all I could say is Oh My God!
We had gone east insted of west! I was headed in the opposit direction of where I wanted to go!
My first thought was ...you idiot! how could you drive so far and not realize your going the wrong way!
Thank god i have a program because my next thought was dam this is funny
We decided to make the best of it and called a friend that knows of meetings in the area we were in, we made it to a meeting where we were and then back to our end of the city in time to join our group for fellowship.
I'm sure it will be months befor I live this one down, they started lastnight with oh dont get a ride home with her god knows where you will end up ...lol
Thank god i have a program , what was a dissapointing waste of time and money turned into a fun night simply by changing my perspective and making the best of a situation.
It's great that you were able to turn a bad situation in to a good one. So many times I have felt rotten about myself and the reason I did was based on my history and my own expectations. Just a different perspective can make all the difference to how we see things, don't you agree.
By the way, I noticed that you are a Veteran Member and I also noticed that I am a Newbie. Seems awhile since I was classified as an NA Newbie but so be it. Do you know the criteria for Veteran Member, Senior Member etc?
Hey Charles dont be offended by the classification it changes the longer you are on this site the rank goes up. Means nothing about clean time you could have 1 day clean and be a veteren member. so keep comming back and you will be a veteren here as well as in the rooms...lol
Hey thanks for sharing the paradox of applying the program, Sandra
That cheered me up
Charles, this categorization of membership has nothing to do with NA. Just that this website has been so designed. At online NA groups, the default design of the websites have to be met sometimes, however, they have nothing to do with NA principles. And to make it more clear, I guess, this forum has been so constructed that the more often you post here, your membership status elevates, depending upon the number of posts I guess...
In NA, we are all just one day clean, Just For Today, and the principle of anonymity states that as such, we are all equal, none above or below, according to my understanding
It's a two-way street, win-win for both, be it oldtimer or newcomer, sponsor or sponsee...
