I know this paticular holday is difficult for many addict but let me say do not give up before the miracle happens remeber to breathe and drink plenty of water. If you find your self craving say the serenity prayer over and over till the though g\has dis apted have faith that someone in NA believes in you and your recovery. Find an NA dance there should be plenty call a friend a clean friend, but whatever you do do not use no matter what

Happy New Year , to all my MIP friends!

Tonight as an alternative to the NA dance, I'm having a house party for my NA friends. I'm so excited it's been a long time since I have had a house full of friends. That little voice inside my head still tells me no one will come why would they want to spend New Years with you. Truth is many people are looking forward to it and will be here, once again that little voice is just a lie!

Thank God for the fellowship of NA and all the beautiful people I can call my friends today.

I wish you all a safe, clean and wonderfull New Years Eve!

Me and my wife also had a house party with NA friends here. Nice music, plenty of NA friends and lots to share and talk with each other, cake and coke to get high on

It was fantastic to meet some friends from my hometown area and member who came from abroad and was part of this party with us... We both spent last year trying to translate the NA literature into Tamil (the local language) as part of the literature Translation Committee...

The sad part was that, one of the members here died of an overdose on the New Year's Eve. He was trying hard to stop drinking again (he had been clean for a year and a half before relapsing into drinking)...

Another member from my hometown who was two years plus clean, who just a couple of weeks back became a father to a babygirl, also relapsed in drinking and eventually died of overdose within a week, two days back...

I was shit scared, both for my sometimes stupid thought that I can maybe drink on rare occasions, and also for my friends who have relapsed into drinking after staying clean for sometime in NA...

Miraculously, these deaths have prompted two of my sponsees to clean up their act again, one got admitted into a detox/rehab and the other is clean for 3 days again

I'm grateful to this friend who passed away, who, even in his death, has taught a lesson to me and these two sponsees of mine...

Moreover, when everyone was talking that these members died of an overdose of heroine, I could not agree to that. I feel that their first drink was what led them to this sad end... If they had not relapsed into drinking, if they had not taken that first sip of alcohol, they wouldn't have shot heroine at all... they would have been still alive... so true, the first drug does the damage... not the last fatal one...

I could not agree more, but 1 step further up the ladder is the mental relpase, the planning of it, the things that lead us to the thoughts, there is the relapse in my opinion, but it doesn't have to happen that way this death and dying can and could all be avoided with taking just a few steps!
