hi all,just back from a trip of a lifetime,but one i hope to be repeating,spent a week in northern india with a load of monks from a buddhist temple,most calm and serene time ive had for a while,then off to Goa, the land i wanted to get to when i was using,you know the one folks, well thats when my friends in recovery really came into there own, went to ameeting and was made welcome,ended up doing a share in a treatment centre which was awsome for me and i hope i carrieed a good NA message, spent a lovely week plugged in over there,and as much as its a real heads capital,i had this programme and its members and a loving HP to keep me safe, aso take this message and carry it where ever you go,the world is our oyster, Godbless,those who have past,and those that are here,and those that are yet to come, Via Con Dios
Hey bignick, glad you had much strength in India. My partner went over there to chase the dragon 5 years ago and came back with an evil monkey on his back that has reaked havok in our life ever since. It is awesome to hear you share because I want to go in a year and am scared of the dope scene over there. Obviously from your share and from all the beauty Tahir brings to this forum, NA is hard at work in those lands.

good job bignick i think that is great. it' s great that you resisted temptaions over there and also that you were able to carrry the message of recovery to others. i'm sure that you had a wonderful experience that will stay with you forever and i hope to one day have such experiences myself.

That used to be the only live NA action I had in my early days,,,,
however we have grown as a Fellowship in India and particularly in my hometown Bangalore ..
We have a meeting a day now and about 200 odd NA members !!!
Now i want to share some honest thoughts about how many tourtists are amazed at the duifferance between what they knew of India as thety gathered from heresay and media and what India really is !!!
Gone are the days of maharajas,elephants,snake charmers and the lot !!!
The Gurus however are still there !!!!
We are now a fast develpoing country that is not cool about being called third world anymore !!!
The rate of progres is great and I am proud to be a citizen of this country !!!
However this all means that we in the Fellowship are now challenged to be more serious about carrying the message !!!
Take my home town for example,,, theres about 10 million people here,, its an InfoTech hotspot in the world today and theres also the nickname " pub capital" of India !!
The pub and rave culture is strong as are the parties where dope is circulated freely !!!
this means that we here now need to be building up on our infrastructure so that when they come a caling in the future,, the hand of NA will be there and meetings will be open and members are there to welcome em with their hugs and stories !!!
I think this we owe to the society we belong in !!!!
We are doing efforts in prisons as well as hospitals and Conventions too,, and trying to get the IPs into the local languages too !!!

And yes,, personally it will be renewal of memories of happy days Fellowshipping with recovering addicts from outside here who took time and trouble to share with the likes of me and it wll be a chance for me to give back freely what I got !!

thanks guys for all your messages,yes certainly a journey of a lifetime,pity that coming back to the uk has brought me great sadness,3 friends having died,one died using the other 2 of natural causes,but i will do like i do any other time i will go to metings and share where im at and my family in recovery will carry me and maybe someone will get something from what i share, heard it once said,stick around kid and life in all its forms will happen, well thats certainly ben true this yr i have been to 2 funerals but lost 5 friends already this yr,plus these three, there but for the grace of god go i, sorry for what is always a good site,but need to let people know this stuff happens,but that using is not my answer today, thankyou for letting me share
