What are you thinking?

"I never know what I think about something until I read what I've written on it."

-- William Faulkner

What have you been thinking lately?

Do you know? We get so accustomed to our thoughts that we lose awareness of them. We don’t see how they are stuck in old habitual patterns, most of which don’t serve us.

Take time to journal so you can capture your thoughts on paper. By doing so, you will begin to take control of your mind and use it to best advantage.

"When you choose to understand [and] exercise control over the functions and attributes of your own mind, you will be empowered to create your own reality, to be completely self-reliant and totally prosperous."

-- The Delfin Knowledge System

i had a horrible sleep last night, i started a career planning workshop yesterday..

i never did know what i wanted to be when i grew up...how old is a grown up anyways??;)

i feel pressure...

to use

to not use

its like....what i've been avoiding all my life...decisions...i hate responsibility

seems all of a sudden i have to make a choice

trying to let go and let God...but i keep taking it back

bottom line the decision rests on me

i just simply feel all f***ed up

gotta go

stay safe and smilin' today

don't use

If we want success rather then failure, we must change our thinking to positive thought where we succede, those negative thoughts go out the window as they come into our minds.

Think positive, see yourself finishing that class, do the footwork do the work go beyond yourself find a knew women who takes things like a women should , responsibile, hard work, focusing on your future and this is part of recovery.

When i was going to school this last year for my contractor license all I could think was how I was going to FAIL, I worked that much harder dispelling those failure pictures that ran thru my mind and I saw myself passing the final test, AND I DID and I can't believe how many people I blew away( including MYSELF) by doing so, everyone else was worried I was going to fail and how I might react to that, but you know, I was ready for failure too either way I wasn't going to use.

I feel F$%$^@ up alot too, less as time goes by those thoughts go away when replaced with a different sort of thinking, it takes work we can become obsessive about our own thinking, hell we're so damn important LOL this is the selfish disease this is the selfish nature of an addict.

Try this, try thinking about others, what would others want to see in you, that motivated me. Other people are successful and theres nothing that can hold you back other then yourself from being a success also, its up to you, higher power is always there by your side remember that he wants to see you succede, you are being watched by many they expect you to fail show them something different.........

I know for me, recovery has become more than simply not using.

"Our inability to control our usage of drugs is a symptom of the disease
of addiction. We are powerless not only over drugs, but over our addiction
as well. We need to admit this fact in order to recover. Addiction is a
physical, mental and spiritual disease that affects every area of our lives." Basic Text page 17 (copyrighted) Narcotics Anonymous.

For me steps 4-9 were where I was set free of the limitations my past made me think I had. A lot of the things I thought about myself were simply lies addiction told me that I had come to accept as being the truth. Journaling is very important...we get to put those lies down on paper so we can see them for what they are...simply not true, and begin to find our own truth....and a new way to live.

The ability to leave behind our preconceptions of who and what we are is one of the greatest gifts recovery has to offer...we have the ability, with the help of other addicts in recovery, to prune our lives from a tangled bramble patch into a garden of beauty. All we have to do is exert the effort and let it grow.

Thoughts, thoughts thoughts,,, that was my life in using,,,and before that !!!

Heavy thoughts,light thoughts,weird thoughts,great thoughts,,,all sorts made in my mind !!!

thoughts of how dreadful at times it was to goto school,, fear of that mad uncle in my house,,,

how nice to play,,sometimes how nice it wasin school,,,

sometimes great thoughts on home and sometimesn bad ones ,,,especially for my brother and cousins !!!

Then thgoughts of how nice it will be to be free in life,,,to have nothing to do !!

the on how to freakout on music and drugs,,, slowly negative on music but more into using !!!

thoughts of using, thoughts of how and where to get ???

slowly all other thoughts of life and living were edged out and only the using ones stayed and crowded my mind !!!

"THEN IN DESPERATION WE SOUGHT HELP FROM EACH OTHER IN NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS!!!" says the Text !!!

I see how its still thoughts, thoughts, thoughts in recovery !!!

thoughts on how to stay clean, how to stay serene, thoughts on living life on lifes terms and enjoying it !!!

The first time i did an effective Fourth Step was when my sponsor asked me to write thoughts !!!

Before this id written inventories of feelings, behaviours etc,,, but till i got to the thoughts i never changed !!!

Boy has my life changed after that !!!Im living on another planet now,,,,not the old earth i knew !!!!

And each year,,, as i relize how thougts shape actions and how we leave behind the dis-ease ones,,, dreams that I thought never existed are coming true !!!

This of course requires great attention to what I am actually thinking .

Then the undesirable, mischievous and pain causing ones are identified and then instead of exerting control over em,,, i admit I am powerless !!!

Then the we part comes in and my life changes !!!

The giving and recieving of help fro others in kind acts of empathy has turned my life around !!!

I acn truly say now that i love to live the NA WAY !!!!

Living and Loving the NA WAY sure beats anything else i knew before !!!

HERE HERE... GRRREATTTT TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN, RAMAN. KEEP THEM A COMING! MISSED YOU FOR SOMETIME HERE

OUR PROBLEM BEING SPIRITUAL, THERE IS NO WAY OUR SOLUTION CAN BE CHEMICAL (using again).

THE STEPS ARE THE SOLUTION. THEY ARE OUR SURVIVAL KIT. THEY ARE THE PRINCIPLES THAT MAKE OUR RECOVERY (not merely physical abstinence) POSSIBLE. AND LIKE RAMAN RIGHTLY EXPRESSED, THE STEPS SURE BEAT ANYTHING ELSE THAT I KNEW OR TRIED BEFORE!

HI Michelle

You are so right , na rocks!!!

and yes too on the importance of going to meetings regularly.

i don't know how i would of gotten through my first 90 days without those 90 meetings

i almost fainted when someone said that to me the first time ..90 meetings in 90 days...wow, what a comitment ! but it saved my life and taught me to see the world and myself in a differant light.

and with the support of the others at the meetings i've made it 6 months without using. a miracle in itself

i'm so glad you're here with us ..keep coming back and sharing...huge hugs and love peggy

WOOHOOO... CLAP... CLAP... CLAP... Clapping wildly...

Congrats on the Big 6 most amazing miracles of any recovering addict, Peggy. So glad we have you here with us. Your zeal and enthusiasm for the NA Program and the urgency to reach out to others in pain has been very inspiring for me and, I guess I can say this too, for all of us here. We love you and we need you here. Great to have recovering women like you, Sandra, Bunny, Michelle, Sheryl, Jenny, Echobar and others here to guide other newcomers who might visit us looking for identification and hope. Truly, this group is a MIRACLE IN PROGRESS, Higherpowered

I could be gay if I didn't love women so much though I hjardly understand them

I sniffed glue once, ctually I think it was my moms nail polish boy what a headache that gave me, crack was much better hate to say but that nearly killed me forget about a little headache.

OK its early and my heads not on right that was a stupid post LOL
