i'm getting pretty scared now-not backing out, but....plus I think "well maybe I shouldn't be there, I'm out of the worst part of withdrawals, I just get the occasional aches and stuff after I keep aching...so I think well maybe I should go out and do a bunch more so I will be physicallly sicker, but the MENTAl stuff is KILLING me, and my sponsor seems to think I need to be there. I've set up sitters, talked to my instructors (the great thing about being in the human services and addiction studies, they all are so understanding. but I am so so scared)

Not sure if you use the Serenity prayer but try it.

God grant me the serenity

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Adriana, you have taken a right decision to go to detox. It helps just unwinding there for a few days. To be in a safe environment helps in shaking off that never-ending cycle of being on and off. Even if you feel physically ok, I'm sure staying there in the hospital in those few days would give you a lot of time to think with a clear mind without any fear or anxiety that takes us for a ride every now and then in our early days of staying clean in a volatile atmosphere. Also since your Sponsor and NA friends are going to take care of you when you are in the hospital, you can focus and reflect on how you can make a fresh start once you are out and how you can deal with threatening situations in your day-to-day life as you have experienced in the last few days... All the best... Look forward to seeing you clean and serene here at the forum after the detox, my friend. Allow your HP to help you by walking in the Light with Him. Hugs, Prayers and lots of love ~ Tahir.
