Im just basically keeping my journal with me everywhere i go and when I think of something writing it down. FOr some reason it was set in my head that I had to sit down and do my fourth step all at one time. And for me I feel it's better to just take it as it comes. I know alot of people say don't lag on your fourth step because you will lose the momentum. That scared me to death so I felt pressured to start asap, so far this is the best method for me.
What methods has everyone else that's started their fourth step or finished it even used? Just curious...
I actually had to put it in my truck with me ( I think alot at work I work alone) and at the end of the day brought it in the house. I just kept it with me like your doing and when things came up I wrote it down.
I did a huge fourth step about 8 years ago and covered everthing in my life up to that point,( alot of shit) then recently I did another one, this was after I relapsed I had been working on it for months prior to relapsing but never got it done.
Michelle, great that you are on a Fourth Step Inventory. I was also glad that I could do it once with my first sponsor, both fourth and fifth. I actually gave up all my commitments, and practically sat down everyday with only one thing on my agenda ~ writing my fourth step. When I was done, I immediately did my Fifth as my first sponsor used to say that we must get done with our fourth and fifth as if a dragon is breathing on our necks... doesn't help any to stay with the fourth for long... But at the same time, it was very important for me to surrender completely to the process of my fourth when I'm at it, making sure that I have gained all that I need to know about myself, my defects of character, and my issues with everyone else in all aspects right from my childhood, before moving on... Doing so has unlocked many longtime blocks and puzzles of my life as soon as I exposed them to the light thru my Fifth...
However, I go back on a Fourth Step analysis every now and then when there is a situation in my daily life to go to the root of the issue and then share it to gain a better perspective and awareness of the situation... Also doing so has also helped me become more and more about the virtues that I do practice today... So that I get to know where I turly am today rather than exaggerating or minimising in any way...
