I took a class in order to help me get my contractors license for painting I have been putting this off for 4 years now and today got the courage from somewhere to do it plus they had a good deal on the class so I signed up its 6 weeks and when i'm done I will be ready to PASS the state board contractors exam and can start my own business.
Then I went to a meeting LOL I felt overwhelmed by the end of the day had to turn down some work which I hate to do but they were trying to cheat me and I almost let them but got the courage stand up for myself and told them " no I can't do that for that price, sorry".
So I hope this works out only thing standing in my way may be my criminal background but it's been 10 years since I was locked up so I hope they consider that and my crimes weren't really all that serious just alot of pety crap.
2 weeks ago I worried to death I was going to starve I had almost no work and in the last 2 weeks i've made enough money to pay my rent $695.00 and pay all my bills about another $400 and pay this school $595.00 this is unbelievable and I still have alot more work waiting to get done.
Stay clean everybody things happen miracles happen and we do and can change into good healthy spiritual people and feel the love of our higher power in many ways.
Well I layed in bed last night and the fear crept in LOL I wanted to give up and go get my money back thinking there is no way this is going to work.
WELL TOUGH VINI I took the step for some reason theres more in life that I want i'm 44 almost 45 and have little I have been in this little apartment 8 years now I want a house, I stuggle from check to check most of the year I have nothing saved I have no security for my future .
I am BLESSED to have some degree of good health but it's not going to last I need good health insurance and my employer offers NONE we just got a 401k program and that took begging from us all for them to do that.
I have alot of knowledge thats valuable and get payed pennys for what I do the side work I do is still 1/3 of what a contractor charges yet I still pay taxs on that so its not much once its said and done.
It's time for me to BUCK IT UP and grow, mature, get out of all this fear and face it and grow in faith that God will help me thru each step I take in life long as I take certain steps

There are many such things that I need to do and I want to do, but are pending from many years. Sometimes, I tend to think that I might never get to do all that. But your share reaffirms the fact that, indeed, "lost dreams awaken and new possibilities arise..."
Miracles do happen... One of my friends who was the first recovering addict that I ever met in my life from the other fellowship always says, "If you think if something is impossible, remember, it's HIMpossible."

My first class was last night i've got alot of studying to do no tv anymore until this is over
Today I have to go down to the courthouse and get my Rap sheet(criminal history) not really looking foreward to doing that all of my past is about to be brought to the surface and once again fear comes up and shame. I have to let the State Board know what i've done so they can determine if I am elligeable for a license , this won't be the only time this will come up but 11 years now since being off of parole I hope they consider that if they don't OH WELL nothing I can do at least i'll have finished the class and can get some sort of certificate for that I think.
How amazing that we, today, march on and on, no matter what life throws at us, be they setbacks or obstacles, with a sense of freedom and hearts filled with hope, and the greatest miracle is that we don't use, inspite of everything that might be wrong in our lives...

Tahir, CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge step this is. I still remember the days when I went back to school after so many years. . . the butterflies, the fear of failure, the fear of success. But remember, some fear can be good and motivates us. I recently signed up for a couple of classes to get another certification and am feeling somewhat apprehensive. It's that D*MN fear thing again. But at least this time around, I have a very large family that will support me and love me through it . . . something I never had before. WOW, isn't that an amazing concept?! You hang in there and you'll get through it. Fortunately for us, we have the tools today to help us get through all sorts of obstacles that life throughs our way. I'm proud of you and you keep on trudging. Keep us posted how things are going. Don't worry about the background stuff. . . you'll be fine. Keep your head up!!
They have no records of me here in fresno so I guess everything I got into trouble for were in other countys LOL so I need to get up there and get records I may be able to just let the board know time/details of crimes and they can find them not sure yet how this is going to workout.
The tough part is going to be getting this math stuff, last tuesday the gal teaching the class was spanish (from Spain) with broken english LOL a little hard to understand but we got the jest of things....
would you guys believe it if i said I have been granted not one but three successful study completions in my recovery !!!
The first was an advanced management study from Frankfurt from the German government and Indian Productoivity Council,,,,qualifing me to profess and practice as well as counsel and analyse based on a certain method of Business management !!!
Then i did a business diploma from the British institues,,, a corrospondance course !!!
Finally at age 45,,, Im awarded a post Graduate in Event Management from a top Institution in my city !!!
I believe all this is related to me seeking Knowledge of Gods will for me and the Power to carry that out !!!
LIKE I LEARNT,,,,,,,, KNOWLEDGE IS THE POWER TO ACHIEVE !!!

I'll be 45 this month Raman When I first got sober the last time i went to school to become a medical transcriber because my body was so shot to hell I was'nt sure I was going to be able to stay in the painting trade but I did go back to work painting and stayed in the school I finished several course and found out that I was'nt suitable for the work due to needing MUCH MORE schooling and ended up my health did return and I have been able to work steadily now for over 5 years with few problems physically.
Though I have herniated myself once again ( aorund my belly button) I had surgery for it 2 years ago but its now reaccured so may need another surgery soon.
Thats a lot of studys you've done and very impressive I could use you my friend once my business (if) gets off the ground
Wow, thanks Raman for sharing about your education pursuits and accomplishments. It sure gives me lots and lots of strength and hope that it is possible for me too...
I have been struggling lately with my graduation studies... trying hard to add it to my daily schedule... but just not workin' out right now... have a huge backlog of books to study and exams to write in arrears...
So thanks to all who posted here that it is possible and happening in all your lives... reassuring me that it can happen in my life too... Indeed, Miracles Do Happen!

I am going to have a hard time with memorizing stuff, already having alot of trouble remembering formulas to do the math equations not sure i'm going to get this , fear !
The next 4 weeks are Law and trade studys the trade part is easy mine is very simple because theres just not alot to painting I guess LOL but the Law , estimating and a few other things are going to be tough also i'm going to have to gear up and study more maybe even get a partener to help me going to ask if anyone wants to study together theres a couple of nice looking gals,,,,, naw better not go there
