The Spiritual Principle behind Step One

I just finished my Step One. I love the fact that this Forum exist! I would love to have a discussion on Step One and the Spiritual Principles behind it.

I am lucky enough to have  low tolerance for pain and suffering. It took me a while to admit that I was an addict. After losing so many jobs and apartments, having to restart my life over every couple years and using harder drugs every time I still would not admit my addiction. I believe at the core of Addiction is the real problem. The "Human Condition" we all suffer from. Our flesh is constantly craving more of anything that makes us feel better. When we are born just being alive makes us Spiritually alive and present as life progresses and we become trapped in society's program we lose Fullness and become Spiritually void vessels.

Surrendering to this fact is the beginning to Recovery. Honestly admitting we have a problem is the first step to recovering from "Life". The Twelve Steps and NA Literature and Members can Teach us the tools or coping skills to deal with Life on Life's terms.

Please tell me about your experiences with the First Step?
